Chuo-ku Monoshiri Quiz⑤

There is a quiz at the entrance of the Chuo Ward Senior Center.

In May of this year, the "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Quiz" was issued for the first time in commemoration of the 100th anniversary.

Answers and Commentary

 The largest park in Chuo-ku is known as Hamacho Park, a representative park of the city. It faces the banks of the Sumida River and is close to Shinohashi.

After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, it was planned and maintained in conjunction with Sumida Park and Kinshi Park as an earthquake reconstruction project, and opened in 1929.

In the Edo period, there were the Hitotsubashi Tokugawa family, Kasama feudal lord, Hirosaki feudal lord, Kumamoto feudal lord Shimoyashiki, and the Hosokawa family mansion even after the Meiji period.

In addition to the square, there is Kiyomasa Koji Temple, which enshrines the Kato Kiyomasa.

There are many important cultural properties designated by the country in Chuo-ku. The main building of the Bank of Japan Main Building Tsukiji Honganji Hondotsuki Main Gate, North Gate, South Gate, Ishibe Takashimaya Tokyo Store Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Building Nihonbashi Kachidokibashi Kiyosubashi Eitai Bridge. Kabukiza is not designated.

On August 4, 1899, Nippon Beer Co., Ltd. (later Sapporo Beer Co., Ltd.) opened "Ebi Jubiya Hall" in Ginza 8-chome, Tokyo. This was the first shop in Japan that used the name "Viya Hall".

The first athletic meet in Japan was the "competition play" held in March 1874 at the Naval Military Dormitory in Tsukiji, Tokyo.
 The actual event I went to was a competition in which I ran while picking up eggs.

In Tensho 18 (1590), along with Ieyasu Tokugawa's entry to Edo, a fisherman, Magoemon Mori, a fisherman from Tsukuda-mura, Nishinari-gun, Settsu-kuni, and more than 30 people under his family were invited to Edo to create Tsukuda Island.

Although he fished in the vicinity of Edo, he had abundant catches, offered high-quality fish such as sea bream to samurai, and with the permission of the Shogunate, the surplus fish was approved by the Shogunate, and the banks of Nihonbashi, which has good water transportation from Tsukuda Island. Started peddling by arranging seafood on a sales board, also called a board boat.

This is said to be the beginning of the Nihonbashi Fish Bank. The statue and monument of Otohime at Ryugu Castle, where sea bream and flounder dance, were also set up by Tsukiji Fish Bank Association. This place is called "Otohime's Square".
