I want to be an Edo kid

The wisdom of eco-friendly and smart living for Edokko

At the show window behind YUITO in Nihonbashi Muromachi, Edokko's eco-friendly wisdom of living is introduced. This time, it is Furoshiki, Yatai soba, Ichiyoraikai, public bath, Yuzuyu. I felt the essence of Edo in the contents of the exhibition that made me feel the atmosphere of Shiwasu.

[Furoshiki] I brought the tools to go to the yuya in furoshiki. Furoshiki also played a role like a bath mat as a wrapper, sometimes as a wiper, and as the name suggests. Furoshiki is a hygienic and excellent item that can carry a variety of things, such as carrying long things, opening and closing, and fixed type by "tying", and it is easy to wash.

[Stall soba] Soba, the soul food of Edo. It is said that not only the soba shop that set up the shop, but also the night soba selling at the stalls contributed greatly to the spread. It seems that the business period of soba selling at that time was from winter to spring, and it was indispensable for Edokko as the body and mind were warmed in the cold of winter.

[Iyoraito] It means the winter solstice, which means that from the winter solstice, when the sun was weakest, to Setsubun the following year, it recovers toward spring, and luck comes. Also, "Yuzu soba" was eaten as lucky items from the winter solstice to Setsubun. "Yuzu is flexible ... money is flexible." It seems to have spread as a lucky items with good luck and good luck.

[Sento] Fires and fights were said to be the flower of Edo, and fires were frequent in Edo at that time. For that reason, there were few houses with indoor bath, which put firewood in order to boil the water, and in many cases, I went to about 600 public baths called bathhouse, regardless of my status. In the days when fuel was precious, bathhouse was a very ethical lifestyle.

[Yuzuyu] It has long been said, "If you enter Yuzuyu, you will not catch a cold." It seems to have started from a public bath in the Edo period, and "Winter Solstice" is "Toji" and "Yuzu" is "Yuzu". It's a fashionable thing. It seems that among Edo children, those who were shaken seemed to be educated.

I also want to learn the wisdom of eco-friendly and smart living for Edokko and work on realizing a sustainable society.
