Kamono Mabuchi, who set up a prefectural residence in Hamacho, studied national studies, waka and Confucianism from Azumaro Kadano at the age of 26. At the age of 41, he went to Edo and alleged to chief priest of Kanda Myojin. At present, there is a monument of "the birthplace of national studies" in the shrine grounds.
The monument is on the right side of the shrine.

The inscription of the monument is by Toko Kon (Kon ‣ Toko, 1898-1977). He has been active as a popular writer, including receiving the Naoki Prize, and has joined the monkship and served as the lord of Chuson-ji Temple. He also served as a member of the House of Councilors.
The summary of the inscription is as follows. [The author's note]
"Haruman" was born in the Fushimi Inari Shrine family, went down to Edo in 1700 (1700), and stayed in the prefecture until 1722 (1722). In the meantime, lectures and singing sessions will be held in various places. The seat was our [Kanda Myojin] chief priest Shibasaki House, and later adopted children and his high brother, Hamamatsu's man, Sanshi Okabe (Kamo) Mabuchi, also rented this house. chief priest Shibasaki studied himself and contributed to the promotion of national studies by providing a school place for Shitomaru. This Higashimaru has come out and our national studies have been handed down today as Kamono Mabuchi and Motoori Norinaga."
Kamono Mabuchi later moved to Harumichi Murata's house, a dried sardine wholesaler in Nihonbashikobunacho, and explored the path of national studies with Hatchobori Yoriki and Enao Kato. (@AM)
