Park in the Sky @ Chuo-ku
Le Corbusier (1887-1965), a French architect who is said to be one of the three major masters of modern architecture. His architectural works (consisting of 17 assets from seven countries including The National Museum of Western Art) are registered in World Cultural Heritage. In this blog post, we will introduce "Park in the Sky" in Chuo Ward in accordance with "Rooftop Terrace", one of the "Five Principles of Modern Architecture*" proposed by Le Corbusier.

In April 2020, "Mizutani Bridge Park in Chuo Ward" was renovated on the rooftop of a three-story building from the ground and reopened. In order to establish a new nursery school, the three-dimensional city park system (if necessary for proper and rational land use, the city park can be set three-dimensionally from a plane adjacent to the ground). It is said that Chuo-ku was the first in Japan to open a nursery school using this system.

"Chuo-ku Sakuragawa Rooftop Park" is located on the premises of "Chuo-ku Women's Center Bouquet 21" and "Sakurabashi Daini Pumping Station". Taking advantage of the total area of more than 2,700 square meters, a lawn open space, playground equipment corner, pond, flower bed, gateball field, etc. are set up in the park, where people can take a walk, play with playground equipment, etc., and interact with "park" functions are substantial.

Book Forest Chuo Rooftop Garden, which is conscious of seeing and enjoying it.
Opened in December 2022, Honnomori Chuou is a complex with a multi-purpose hall and a cafe, with the Kyobashi Library and the Local Museum. In addition to the rooftop on the 6th floor, there is also a "garden" named "Gathering Forest" on the 2nd floor, which is designed to allow people to appreciate and relax. A lot of glass is used for the outer wall. The design of the building, which looks like layers, goes beyond the image of the conventional library. By the way, "Book Forest Chuou (Design: Class Design Room)" was awarded the 2023 Good Design Award.
