Japanese allspice is a deciduous shrub of the family Rubiaceae native to China.         It is not very noticeable except during the flowering season, but it is a valuable existence that blooms fragrant flowers slightly downward in the New Year, and in China, along with Yamachahana (chaume), plum (tamaume), and daffodils, "Yukinaka Shiyu (flower)" It is counted as one of the themes in early spring, and is said to have been introduced to Japan in the early Edo period.       It is sometimes referred to as "wake plum" because it blooms in the moon (also known as December in the lunar calendar), but a glossy petals with transparency are regarded as beeswax, flowering at the same time as plums, It is a different species from the influential plum, because it has a similarity that the flower pattern is short and the flowers are attached to the branches. "                            In the basic species of Japanese allspice, the outer flower cover is pale yellow and the inner flower cover is brownish, but generally the flower cover is yellow with bright yellow color, and its horticultural varieties seem to be popular as tea. The fragrant aroma is derived from essential oil components such as linalol, Borneool, and cineool, and is similar to the scent of Japanese narcissus.
