[The 17th Excursion Series] Visit Higashine City in summer! The willow in Ginza now...
Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
The other day, I went on a day trip to Higashine, Yamagata Prefecture, a friendship city in Chuo-ku, saying, "I thought it was good day." ^
If you pass the highway, it's unexpectedly fast!
At the time of the visit in January, the whole area was snow scene, but in early July we were able to see the wonderful scenery that left an impression again.
So, this time, we will introduce the charm of Higashine City, which is related to Chuo-ku, with the keywords of "cherries" and "willows" while comparing the scenery with the previous visit.♪
Morning is great! Outdoor cherry picking in Higashine City
Last month, I just wrote an article about the 19th Chuo-ku Cherry Festival held in Tsukiji and Tsukishima, so I think some people may have new memories of the cherry blossoms in Higashine City.
Higashine City has the highest production of cherries in Japan and the birthplace of the king of cherries, Sato Nishiki.
Indeed, cherries can be said to be cherries in Higashine City, and cherries can be called Higashine City!
The highlight of this visit was undoubtedly picking cherries.
(What is the image at the time of the visit in January? ^^)
Greenhouse cherries hunting is from mid-April to early June, while open-air cherries hunting is from mid-June to early July.
This time, I purchased an admission ticket (limited-time morning service) that is 600 yen cheaper than usual sold at Cherry Higashine Station between 9:00 and 10:00.♪
This service was very popular, and many people were in line early in the morning (at 9 o'clock there were twice as many people as the photo).
After that, go to the orchard that is open immediately due to schedule!
Perhaps because it was the last time of the cherry hunting season, it was crowded with many families at 10 o'clock.
There were many cherries (Sato Nishiki) trees in the orchard we visited this time, so even at the end of the season, there are lots of cherries in a position where you can easily reach without using a stepladder.
Isn't this a nice point for families with small children?♪
Of course, it is possible to use the stepladder as shown in the photo, but I was able to find out if you usually need to use the stepladder in the list of open orchards that you can purchase the admission ticket.
Actually, this is my first cherries hunting!
I am surprised that I can throw away the seeds after eating on the ground, and local children (elementary school students) started an instant seed skipping tournament with friends, and I (record at Tsukishima is about 3m) It was a truly surprising and discovery experience that was surprised to be surprised to be flying far away.
It's the most important taste of the cherries, but it's quite different depending on the tree and the place where it grows!
At first, I was guided to a tree where there were still many cherries, and from the excitement of the first cherries, I ate only the cherries of the tree.
However, even though the cherries are small, they become full in 15 minutes....
So, I'm going to eat and go around the cherry blossoms of other trees in the park little by little and look for something delicious.
Eventually, I found a tree with sweet and large cherries, and chose and ate the cherries more carefully (laughs).
In this way, it was impressive that we were able to compare each tree instead of comparing each variety.♪
It has become like an impression of cherry hunting, but at the Chuo-ku Cherry Festival, which is held every year in Chuo-ku, you can buy such delicious cherries while you are in Chuo-ku, or participate in the seed skipping tournament You can also.
If you have missed this year, please come to Chuo-ku next year!
Ginza's willow ~ Winter / Summer Comparison ~
In Higashine City, there are many willows, including willows in Ginza donated by Chuo-ku on August 18, 1989 (for details, see the previous article).
Last time it was a willow in Ginza with no leaves, but what about this time?
Let's compare it because it's a great deal!
(Left: shooting in early January 2019, right: shooting in early July 2019)
How about it? It's a wonderful figure that can be said to be "This is willow!" ^^
In addition, the willows planted along the sidewalk fluttered the lush leaves in the wind, and it looked very cool.
In this way, it's nice to be able to meet willows in Ginza even on your travel destination.♪
I would like to introduce it to you when you find it while traveling.
