Central Hall on the 1st floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store

This photo shows "Eigakuso Uryu" Higashi-Enryakuji Temple Kanei-ji Temple Nemoto Chudo dedication ceiling painting" located in the central hall on the 1st floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store. I looked down at the hall from the 5th floor of the store and photographed it.

Higashi-Enryakuji Temple Kanei-ji Temple in Ueno celebrates its 400th anniversary in 2025. This ceiling painting was commissioned by Yuji Tezuka, a painter whose temple is also an emeritus professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.

The size is large, 6m x 12m. It is exhibited in the central hall on the 1st floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store to commemorate the dedication of the ceiling painting, and the exhibition period is from February 14 (Wednesday) to March 5 (Tuesday).

In addition, many works by Yuji Tezuka are on display at the entertainment venue on the 7th floor of the main building of the store as the second venue. This is from February 16 (Fri) to March 4 (Mon).

The ceiling picture is placed right in front of the statue of "Magokoro" in the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store.

It's a rare opportunity to look down from above, rather than looking at the ceiling picture from below, so please come and visit us.

※Higashi-Enryakuji Temple Kanei-ji Temple Nemoto Chudo was erected in 1698 at the site of the large fountain in Ueno Park in 1698, and was burned down during the Shogi Corps' war in 1868. The current Nemoto Chudo was rebuilt in 1879 by relocating the main hall of Kawagoe Kita-in to the land of Daiji-in (currently Kanei-ji Temple) in Yamauchi Koin.

I made it up. It's amazing!

In addition to the dragon's paintings, there are many wonderful works by Yuji Tezuka, including folding screen drawings and scrolls, so don't miss the second venue.
