Street Corner Piano @ Edobashi
Located on the southeast side of Edobashi, next to Nihonbashi Post Office is the Nihonbashi Diamond Building, which has a unique shape. This time, it is not a story about the building, but an introduction to the "Street Corner Piano" installed in the hall on the first floor of the building. I go through the building almost every day for shopping and walking dogs, but since it is Mitsubishi Warehouse's headquarters building, I have never thought of going inside.

I happened to pass near the entrance, and there was an unfamiliar sign. It was the signboard of the street corner piano. It's wonderful to be able to play the piano in the hall of a large company building! There is also a piano at home, and I sometimes touch it, but there is no opportunity to play in the hall. If you look closely at the information board, you can play every day except Sunday.

I was worried about the eyes, but there weren't so many people, and I abandoned my shame and played several songs. The touch is a little light on the uplight piano, but the power is different due to the reverberation sound of the hall. The sound of the mistouch also resonates well. The piano was made by John Broadwood & Sons in the UK, which was produced in the 1930s, and since the Edobashi Warehouse Building, the predecessor of this building, was completed in 1930, it is the same age. By the way, in 2014, it was rebown as Nihonbashi Diamond Building.

I wonder if there is a piano in a surprising place, so I wonder if I can monopolize it, but there is a rule of holding time for one person up to 10 minutes, and there is an hourglass on the piano. There seemed to be surprisingly many people who wanted to play, and there was one who played alone in front of me, and two were waiting just behind me. I think it's nice to have a lot of people who like music.
