Pine in Kakigara-cho

I found an information board on the Taito Ward side of Yanagibashi on the Kanda River.

Yanagibashi, which was built just before the Kanda River merged with the Sumida River, was built for the first time in 1698, and the current bridge was built in 1929 due to the reconstruction of the earthquake. It is the first bridge of the Kanda River (the first bridge from the confluence) and is designated as a ward Tangible Cultural Property in Chuo-ku. In this vicinity, the Kanda River is the border between Chuo-ku and Taito-ku, and Yanagibashi 1-chome and Yanagibashi 2-chome are the street names on the Taito-ku side.
When I happened to take a walk on the Taito Ward side, I found that the history of Yanagibashi was introduced on the signboard of the "Guide to Old Town Name". According to the signboard, "At that time it was called Kawaguchiguchinobashi, but since willows were planted on the banks of the bridge, it was called Yanagibashi someday." It was a new lesson. It's fun to walk around.
