"Places related to Chuo-ku" in Kasama City
~ Kasama City was a city with many highlights! ~
On the first weekend of March, I enjoyed Umemi at Kairakuen, and the next day, I had the opportunity to visit Kasama City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Kasama City is famous for Kasama Inari Shrine, which is said to be one of Japan's three largest Inari, and Kasama Ware, which has the oldest history in Kanto.
In this blog, I would like to introduce "a place related to Chuo-ku" in Kasama City.
* The photo above is grand Torii gate, about 10 meters high. It is a steel frame painted in traditional calm vermilion color (Kasama vermilion color). In the past, Ishidorii used Inadaishi, which was mined in Kasama City, was damaged by the earthquake in 2010 and rebuilt as a symbol of reconstruction afterGreat East Japan Earthquake in 2016.
The map was posted using the Geographical Survey Institute website "Geographical Institute Map / GSI Maps | Geographical Survey Institute" with comments on the map.
Inari, Kasama Shrine
First of all, Kasama Inari Shrine.
Kasama Inari Shrine is the head office of Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Bessha (2-11-6, Nihonbashi-Hamacho, Chuo-ku).
It was founded in 651 in Asuka period and has a history of more than 1,370 years. Along with Fushimi Inari Taisha (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) and Toyokawainari (Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture), it is considered one of Japan's three largest Inari (the three largest Inari shrines in Japan).…)。
enshrined deity is the "Ukanomitama no Kami" and is the guardian angel of the rich harvest, business prosperity, breeding industry, wishing for prosperity and Hibuse. The number of worshipers is 3.5 million per year.
This area has a dense forest of walnuts for a long time, and since Inari Oga was enshrined there, it was also called "walnut Shimo Inari". In addition, there was a person called "Mon Saburo" in the family of the 13th Inoue family of the Kasama clan, the 13th generation of the Inoue family, feudal lord and Masaken Inoue, who gave merit to a large number of people mainly in the Tone River basin.
By the way, the classic rakugo also has a performance called "Mon Saburo Inari", which is a very interesting story about the Kasama clan's retainer becoming a fox and turning people into a fox on the way to Edo.
* The photo above shows the tower gate called Bansei Taiheimon (completed in 1961) and worship hall (completed in 1960 (Showa 35).
(left photo) Speaking of Inari Shrine, foxes. There were a lot of foxes at Kasama Inari Shrine.
(upper right and lower right of the photo) On April 9 (the day of the foundation of Kasama Inari Shrine), a sake festival (Kenshusai) will be held in Reitaisai festival, where famous sake is dedicated from a brewery in Ibaraki Prefecture, will be held. God and sake have an inseparable relationship.

<a little stopover...>
After going through the Otorii gate and going out of the precincts, there was an old sake brewery called Sobee Sasame Shoten in front of me. It seems that this was originally the brewer of the Makino family of the Kasama Domain, and in 1873 (Meiji 6), he was handed over to the management with the song of "Nihayamamatsu Green Colored Yorozuyoke and Ei Yuran" by feudal lord. It is said that he received a brand called "Futaba Yamamatsu Midori". And the famous sake has been serving as the sacred wine of Kasama Inari Shrine for generations. By the way, "Nambayama" means "Mt. Tsukuba" and "Mt. Kaba" in Ibaraki Prefecture.

About Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Betsusha (Nihonbashihama-cho, Chuo-ku)
Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Bessha, like the head office, is also called "Mon Saburo Inari", and was originally the residence of the Kasama Domain Makino Family. It was a land where Narisada Makino worshiped as a lower house from the fifth shogun Tsunayoshi Tokugawa in 1681 (Yonho 9), and a vast mansion, garden, and Izumi Pond were set up in the house, and Inari, Sanno and Yahata were enshrined in artificial hill.
In 1747, when Sadamichi Makino, the eldest son of Narisada Makino, became the first feudal lord of the Makino family of the Kasama Domain, and the first generation of the Makino family, followed by the Inoue family of the former feudal lord. And in 1859 (Ansei 6), the 8th feudal lord, Sadanao Makino, recommended and enshrined the spirits at the current location in Edo Shimoyashiki. It is said that on the first day of Hatsuuma, people living in the Nihonbashi area opened their doors and allowed them to worship.

<There is also "Kasama Ise Inari Daimyojin">
In Chuo Ward, in addition to Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Betsusha, there is also Kasama Iseyo Inari Daimyojin (2-31-1 Nihonbashihamacho, Chuo-ku). It is located on the site of Meijiza (the southeast corner facing Meijiza Street), so it is also called "Meijiza Inari Shrine". It seems that the foundation is unknown, but it is said that Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Betsusha recommended the company's spirit. Speaking of which, there is also Kabuki Inari Shrine (4-12-15 Ginza, Chuo-ku) on the site of Kabukiza (the southeast corner facing Harumi-dori St.). In both cases, the actors wish the success of the stage.
Kasama Nichido Museum of Art
Next, I would like to introduce the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art.
The Kasama Nichido Museum of Art was founded in 1972 by the founders of Nichido Gallery (5-3-16 Ginza, Chuo-ku), Jin Hasegawa (Jin Hasegawa) and Rinko (Rinko) and the founders of Nichido Gallery (5-3-16 Ginza, Chuo-ku). The reason why it was founded in Kasama City is that the ancestors of Hitoshi Hasegawa were a clan doctor of the Kasama clan and had a mansion in this place.
The museum consists of a special exhibition hall, a French hall, a Japanese hall, and an outdoor sculpture garden, and has about 3,000 works.
In addition to domestic and international masterpieces such as Renoir, Degas, Monet, Van Gogh, and Ryusei Kishida, the collection also includes rare palette collections drawn on palettes loved by painters and works by sculptors from Japan and abroad.
(On the photo) In the outdoor sculpture garden surrounded by bamboo grove, there were many sculptors' works.
(Lower photo) The French Pavilion where Osship Zackin's "Tripleo" was also exhibited. Speaking of Osship Zackin, there is a "messenger" on Chuo-ohashi Bridge over the Sumida River.

About Nichido Gallery Main Store Tokyo Ginza (Ginza, Chuo-ku)
It is said that there are more than 200 galleries in Ginza, among which Nichido Gallery is said to be the oldest Western-style painter in Japan.
Nichido Gallery was founded by Jin Hasegawa (Jin Hasegawa) in 1928 (Showa 3), and in 1931 (Showa 6), Japan Mobile Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (currently Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.) With the help of Kiyoaki Awatsu, the president of Tokyo 1, the company opened its current location in Ginza. The following year, in 1932 (Showa 7), the store name was changed to "Nichido Gallery", and since then, he has been active as a Western-style painter at the same building, pioneering today's Western-style painting business.
The name of the gallery is derived from the start of business at the head office building of Nippon Movable Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., but the owner of the building, the company, named it "Nichido Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd." in 1946 (Showa 21). I think it was very advanced that it was simply named "Nichido Gallery" rather sooner than it was renamed.
And in 1972 (Showa 47), as already introduced, Kasama Nichido Museum of Art was established in Kasama City, a place related to Hasegawa.
Mr. Tokuchi Tanikawa (the third son of Hitoshi Hasegawa) is the former president of the National Federation of Fine Arts and Commerce and the former president of the National Federation of Western Painting and Commerce, and also serves as Vice President Tomoko Hasegawa (Chieko Hasegawa) (the wife of Mr. Tokushichi Hasegawa, both of whom are the directors of the French government.
Currently, there are hundreds of writers dealing with oil paintings, sculptures, and prints.

Yeah
In this way, Kasama Inari Shrine introduced this time is the headquarters of Kasama Inari Shrine Tokyo Betsusha in Nihonbashihama-cho, Chuo-ku, and the Kasama Nichido Museum of Art is an art museum founded by Nichido Gallery in Ginza, Chuo-ku. Both are famous places and facilities related to Chuo-ku.
In addition, there is "Inada stone", which is mined mainly in the western Inada area of Kasama City, which was explained at the beginning, as related to Chuo-ku. This stone is a type of granite, and it is said that it is also called "white lady" because of its whiteness.
Since Kasama City was close to Tokyo, high-quality granite abundantly buried in this area was transported to Tokyo, and in National Diet Building, the Supreme Court, Tokyo Station, and Chuo-ku, Nihonbashi and Jobanbashi have been used as a stone material for many buildings that represent Japan and Tokyo.
In the Inada area, there are also Inada stone quarry, which is said to be the "Ishikiri Mountains", and facilities called the "Stone Hundred Years Hall" that show the history of Inada stone. This time I couldn't go without time, so I would like to go next time.
In April, various events such as the Kasama Azalea Festival (April 13-May 6) and the Kasama Ceramic Festival (Himatsuri) (April 29-5/5) will be held in Kasama City. . Why don't you go to Kasama City, which is related to Chuo-ku?
Oh, Kasama City was a city with many attractions! By the way, as a souvenir, I bought Kasama Ware's Tokuri and Inoguchi, and had "Nambayama Matsu Midori" warm and warm.
Poster of the very beautiful Kasama Azalea Festival! We would like to introduce it to everyone, and we posted it with permission from Kasama Tourism Association.
