"Agame Sakura" in Kyoto
On March 6th, I posted a blog of "Okamezakura" in Nihonbashi, but on April 4th I went to Kyoto to see the long-awaited "Akamezakura". It was a cloudy sky, but I was able to see the blooming state. The cherry blossoms here are "weeping cherry tree" and the name is "Agame Sakura" in kanji.
Okamezakura is a mixture of Kanhisakura and Mamezakura by a British researcher Ingram, and was made in 1947, and is an early blooming and multiflower species. The cherry blossoms in Nihonbashi also bloom early, but the cherry blossoms here also seem to bloom earlier than Yoshino cherry tree, and when I went to see them, the temple said that the flowers were slightly less.
This "Agame Sakura" is located on the grounds of Senbon Shakado hall (Daihooji). The left of the photo is main hall, which is designated as a national treasure.
The photo of "Agame Sakura" and "Agame" are listed on the website of Senbon Shakado hall, so if you are interested, please take a look.
