From April 25th (Thursday) to May 22nd (Wednesday) at the adjacent gallery izutuki, a long-established knife shop Nihonbashi Kiya Main Store, "Be Happy! Yoshito Matsuoka Clay work exhibition is being held.
※ I wonder if Clay Work is a "original and sculptural ceramic work".
This time, I also took care of Mr. Abe, Kiya Nihonbashi Main Store Co., Ltd.
At the same time, Mr. Oba, who is in charge of Izutuki, also guided us.
Greetings from Mr. Kiya
A solo exhibition by Yoshito Matsuoka, who has a workshop in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, will be held.
Matsuoka-san is the first artist in Kiya izutuki space.
Be Happy ! Colorful, pop with the theme! You can get energy just by looking at it.
This is a valuable opportunity to see Matsuoka's fascinating works in Tokyo, saying that things you want to make, such as vessels that make everyday life happy and objects that live in a mysterious world are overflowing more and more.
By all means, my favorite Be Happy! I hope you have a good work.
In addition, since the work is handmade, it is one thing.
Please forgive me when the same thing as the photo is out of stock.
Message from Mr. Yoshito Matsuoka
We make pottery based on the basic balance of "use" and "beauty".
And I continue to think about what to put on top of it.
It is my encouragement to make pottery by imagining that I will pick it up while raising my mouth and spilling smiles.
There is no place to aim for consumable vessels, and I created them with an awareness of art work artwork "from vessels to canvas".
Born in Takarazuka City, he played with clay since childhood, influenced by his relatives doing pottery in the neighboring city of Kawanishi.
Influence, he majored in ceramics in the Department of Crafts at Osaka University of Arts.
When I was a student, I was passionate about large objects.
Production of works for open call for participants. Only abstract works are presented.
After that, he studied art theory at the university's graduate school.
He became independent at the age of 30 and set up his home and studio in Yamaguchi-cho, Nishinomiya City.
When I started making vessels for my life on my own, I was awakened to the fun.
"An object is, in a sense, self-satisfaction. But vessels sympathize with people and involve people."
When the mouth angle of the person who picked up the vessel rises, I think "shimeshime".
That moment is irresistible.
When a person who sees the vessel is shy, it makes me want to entertain more and more.
If you look at the vessel and feel a little brighter.
Yoshito Matsuoka Profile
Born in Takarazuka in 1966.
Graduated from Osaka University of Arts in 1990.
Graduated from Osaka University of the Arts in 1995.
The work with the green glaze is a world of works that have been kept since school days.
On the other hand, a color picture series that suddenly started three years ago.
In addition, we have various drawers such as red paintings, iron paintings, objects, and firing (yakishime and yakijime: pottery baked at high temperatures without glaze).
[What I think about making bowls]
Making vessels will bother you more than making objects.
The first thing I think is important in making vessels is to come up with ideas and designs that I think of myself as a ninmari, and to come up with trial and error to shape it.
If only "use", which is the function of a vessel, it is not possible to put "beauty" as an original expression in it (= vessel).
In other words, as a vessel work, it will be a little far from myself.
After an exquisite match between "use" and "beauty", it is completed as a vessel work.
This is the ultimate joy for me.
I feel that it is the most encouraging for me to make pottery while imagining those who pick up the vessels born through such a process, raising their mouths, spilling smiles, and imagining those who pick them up .
