Do you know Suehiro Shrine in Nihonbashi Ningyocho?
This shrine enshrines Bishamonten in Nihonbashi Seven Lucky Gods and is popular for the benefit of luck and disaster relief.
At the beginning of Edo, Ningyocho had Yoshiwara (Yoshihara), a shogunate-approved playground. Yoshihara is famous for Yoshihara, which was north of Asakusa, but after the great fire of the Meiryaku era in 1657, it moved from Ningyocho to the north of Asakusa. This was called Motoyoshihara for Shin-Yoshiwara in Asakusa north. Even today, "Daimon-dori" remains as a remnant. Suehiro Shrine has been worshiped by people since the Edo period as the general guardian of Motoyoshihara.
The street in front of Suehiro Shrine was decided on the road nickname "Suehiro Street" in December 2023. Suehiro Street is about 300m street from Ningyocho Street to Hamacho River Green Road. The street is less crowded and quiet than amazake Yokocho, but there are many restaurants and izakayas along the street.
