promenade Park, located along the Sumida River School River (Harumi Canal), where the Sumida River diverted east near Tsukuda 2-chome downstream of Eitai Bridgedike, is a place for local residents to relax. The refreshing wind with the scent of fresh green full of light blows through, and walking around the waterside will heal your heart. At low tide, when you look closely at the rocky shores and seawalls at the water, you can see the Kyojo Shigi (ruddy turnstone) moving around and foraging. It is said that the name comes from the unique summer feathers with reddish brown, black, and white spots as the luster of a Kyoto woman's kimono. The neck, beak, and feet are short as perilla and look like plover. Female summer feathers are light reddish, and winter feathers and young bird are grayish brown and plain. It is said that it breeds in the Tundra area of the Northern Hemisphere in summer and winters over the Southern Hemisphere in winter. It flys as a travel bird to Japan as a relay point in spring and autumn, and is observed on tidal flats, coasts, paddy fields, etc. . It has the habit of turning or shifting pebbles, earth lumps, shells, and seaweed lumps upside down with a beak and preying on small insects, gokai and crustacean lurking under it. The English name is called "Turnstone" because of its foraging habits.
