Small 3.Azuki and Chuo-ku sightseeing certification
~Part 1: "Flowers" at Tsukiji Honganji Temple~
This is Edamame, a correspondent with children.♪
The new series "Small 3, Azuki and Chuo-ku sightseeing certification" that wrote "Prologue" the other day.
I would like to start in earnest.
Let's take a look at this issue.
15th (conducted in February 2023)
Question 4 (Theme problem: "Buildings in Chuo-ku")
Today, Tsukiji Honganji main hall, designed by Chuta Ito, was built in 1934 as a stone structure that imitates ancient Indian style. There is a connection to Buddhism between the entrance of main hall. It is decorated with beautiful stained glass depicting it. ( Which of the following words apply to you?
A. Bodhi tree B. Lotus flower (Lotus flower) c Sara Sojuju D. Manju Shaka
"Yeah, I wonder?"
"Why?"
Azuki "..., nothing. It's like Buddhism."
It seems that there is an image of lotus = Buddhism.
・・But. Somehow, it's boring to get to the right answer.
My mother said a little mean.
Edamame "All, from A to E, are they all related to Buddhism? ?」
"Azuki ... Eh!"
"Yes. Let's check it out."
・・・ Mother Edamame who believes that the real pleasure of sightseeing certification lies in the "official choice".
I think there are a lot of things I can learn from there.
Buddhist plants
So let's check it out.
A. Bodhi tree
Under the tree of the bodhi tree, the Buddha was enlightened.
For this reason, the word "bodhi", which means enlightenment in Barry and Sanskrit.
It seems that it came to be called "Body Tree (= Enlightenment Tree)".
In China, the kanji "bodhi" was applied to Bodi, and it seems that this character was used in Japan as well.
B. Lotus flower
I often see the Buddha statue sitting on the lotus flower pedestal.
In Buddhism, it is said that the characteristics of lotus flowers are summarized in five and called "Gotoku of lotus flowers".
Because it is believed that it matches the characteristics of correct belief
Lotus flowers seem to be important.
C. Sara Sojuju
It means "two Sara Trees".
When Historical Buddha died, there were two Sara trees nearby.
When Historical Buddha died, "Sara Soju" bloomed and had a good scent around it.
After that, although he died once, he was saddened by the destruction of Historical Buddha, and bloomed again.
It is said that the petals were scattered as if they were buried around Historical Buddha.
D. Manju Shaka
red spider lily.
"Lotus Sutra," It is said to be one of the flowers that came down from heaven to celebrate the Buddha's preaching, and also has the meaning of "the heavenly flower".
That's why they were all related to Buddhism.
"Wow, I don't know!"
・・The result. Azuki seems to have been more worried (laughs).
Well, I wanted to bother you (laughs).
Do you have any moments that make it difficult to unravel as a result of increased knowledge?
I had quite a few.
I actually went there.
That's right. I would like to actually go there.
From the Hamacho area, 3 stations are located from Ningyocho Station.
You can go to visit us soon when you feel like it.
By the way, this day is Sunday. It seems that the wedding was also held.
Other Buddhist memorial service was running,
Many worshipers were visiting.
First of all, let's see the actual stained glass in the photo at the beginning.
"... Lotus!"
"The right answer!"
"... it's pretty!"
The answer is "A. Lotus Flower [Lotus Flower]".
Yes, sir.
If you look not only at the problem but also at the actual thing, it seems that there are places to feel in your heart again.
"But it's strange that the temple has stained glass.
It's like a Christian church."
"Azuki. Didn't you notice it?"
"What?"
"For Mr. Honganji. There's also a pipe organ."
"Oh! !」
・・・ I must have visited Tsukiji Honganji several times.
I'm afraid he didn't really notice it.
The pipe organ of Tsukiji Honganji Temple is from the Buddhist Missionary Association.
It is said that it was donated in 1970 to spread Buddhist music.
At the lunchtime concert held on the last Friday of every month.
It's entertaining many people's ears.
"I wonder if it's a place to pray.
But I can't help you."
As mentioned above, Azuki's consideration (!?) I did it.
That's right.
I'm going to ask you another question because I came here.
