I met Nauman elephant in Tottori Prefecture

The other day, I visited a prefectural museum in Tottori Prefecture. As a freshwater fish mania in Japan, it is one of my pleasures to learn about natural history as well as the creatures that live in the region and the creatures that have lived in the past.

In such a situation, while looking at a splendid Nauman elephant specimen, I casually read the explanatory ...

Well, I guess you're writing about Nihonbashihamacho!

Valuable skeletal specimens

I met a precious skeletal specimen, Nauman elephant in Tottori Prefecture.

It was in 1976 that the Nauman elephant was walking in the middle of Tokyo. During the subway construction in Nihonbashihamacho, three fossils were discovered. It is said that the head and body bones are of high academic value and is named "Hamacho Sample" and was exhibited at the Takao Museum of Natural Science in Hachioji City. That's why Tottori Prefecture's one is a replica.

The Takao Museum of Natural Science has been closed once (in the description of the Prefectural Museum in Tottori, this fact has not been revised). It is said that the specimen was transferred to Hachioji City and stored in the warehouse, but the truth could not be clearly confirmed.

Well, when I was a child, I was watching an anime called "Beginning Human Gatherles (Beginning Human Gon)".
Oh, that mammoth meat seemed to be delicious ... and it seemed to be nostalgic here, but no, please wait.

Both mammoths and Nauman elephants are fellow elephants, while Nauman elephants are fellow Asian elephants (Asia elephants), and mammoths are friends of Mammoths (Amamoths genus). This means that cats and leopards are different.

In any case, it is Chuo-ku where there is no shortage of topics of history and culture, but historical events tend to be the main ones after Ieyasu Tokugawa joined the office, so it goes back to the age so far. It is said that you will be reminded of what you can do in Tottori again.

What I don't know yet may be buried somewhere.
