At the University of the Arts Art Journey Exhibition, we will introduce 10 outstanding works selected from Tokyo University of the Arts graduates and completed works in 2023 over three periods.

Painting, crafts, design, intermedia art, etc. A variety of works created by making full use of various specialties will appear.

Please enjoy a trip around art while feeling the full expression of young artists who fly away from the University of the Arts.

This work was created in mold dyeing with the theme of a storage room for memory where memories and reality intersect.

The pattern is developed by rotating one mold.

The center is a symbol tree that represents the present and past, which is the base of this space, two ends that express what is continuing to remember.

It shows the passage of time by changing the type in some places.

Stool

The structure that is the main element of the theme of this time, Asahinoha Furniture.

Based on this, we will consider various forms of furniture.

Something like an ear that pops out of the pattern not only serves as a decoration of things, but also serves as a stopper to prevent the assembled trees from falling apart.

The shape of a chair considered by the waveform of a stool.

If you arrange triangular pillars at right angles, it will be a seat and a backrest.

With the image of a so-called chair, I removed the unwanted pattern and thought about it, and created a handrail and a scaffolding place.

My Angels Record

The Heavenly Empire and Angels of Modern Alchemists

I'm a modern alchemist.

Inspired by the fields of natural science, occultism, psychology, etc.

Decomposes and refuses objects with seemingly opposite properties, such as living and non-life, nature and artifacts, male and females.

Bisexual humans, unicorns, dolphins, eggs, uroboros, angels, etc. We use symbols full of such mysterious elements as "raw materials" that bear my own will, and combine various materials into "mediaries" and seemingly contradictory areas and ideas of modern society to refine the new world view with the feeling of telling a story.

Among them, it is the angel that runs through my alchemy path (the way of production).

The etymology of angels means "angelus" in Latin, "messenger".

According to religious science, angels are purely spiritual beings located between man destined to die and God Almighty.

In the Old Testament, angels are responsible for communicating God’s will to the human world.

The position of angels is not above or below man, but they have thoughts, feelings, wills, and ranks like humans.

However, its existence style is different.

Angels are “the rank without flesh,” and man is “the rank with flesh.”

The theologian of the 5th and 6th centuries, Dionysius Aleopagita, classified angels into three ranks and nine types in Heavenly.

Taru, Wisdom, and Za angels, the top third rank, serve God's side, and the next 3rd rank, the Lord, Noh, and power angels maintain and protect the heavens.

These angels rarely come down on earth.

The angels of the third rank of the right on the next floor, the great and crownless, descend to the earth and come into contact with man.

In modern times, popular culture comes from this third rank, alien organisms with white wings that appear in the subjective consciousness and impressions of the masses (e.g., the Archangel Gabriel who informed the Virgin Mary in the New Testament, the seven angels who blow the trumpet in the Book of Revelationgreat disaster, and the guardian angels who watch the lives of all.

Unicorn, dolphin, pentagram...

These beings, like Muses, who have always inspired me to create, become works, carry and convey my will, have become my angels.

They take on their mission, from the "Heavenly Empire" with countless possibilities, into the form of angels that can be seen in my eyes and in your eyes, slowly descend into the earth.

The gate connecting the heavenly empire and reality is open as a painting in the center of the exhibition space.

It is located between the work and the author.

My work comes down from this gate as an angel.

This gate has infinite possibilities and continues to be opened as a source of my own creation.
