At the University of the Arts Art Journey Exhibition, we will introduce 10 excellent works selected from the graduated and completed works of Tokyo University of the Arts in 2023 for three periods.

Painting, crafts, design, intermedia art, etc. A variety of works created by making full use of various specialties will appear.

Please enjoy your trip around art while feeling the whole expression of young artists flying off from the University of the Arts.

This work was created with pattern dyeing on the theme of a storage room of memory where memories and reality intersect.

A pattern is rotated to expand the pattern.

The center is a symbol tree representing the present and the past, which is the base of this space, two at both ends representing what we are remembering.

By changing the type in some places, it represents the passage of time.

Stool

This structure is the main source of ASANOHA FURNITURE, the theme of this time.

Based on this, we will consider various forms of furniture.

The ears that jump out of the pattern are not only ornamental, but also serve as stoppers to prevent the crossed trees from falling apart.

The shape of a chair considered by the waveform of the stool.

When the triangular column is arranged at right angles, it becomes a seat surface and a backrest.

With the image of a so-called chair, I removed the unnecessary pattern and thought about it, and there was a handrail and a scaffolding place.

My Angels Record

The Tenjo Empire of Modern Alchemist and Angels

I'm a modern alchemist.

Inspired by fields such as natural science, occultism, and psychology, he draws in knowledge.

Decomposes and refuses things with seemingly opposite properties, such as living things and non-life creatures, nature and artificial objects, males and females.

Humans with both sexes, corner beasts, dolphins, eggs, uroboros, angels ... Use symbols full of such mysterious elements as "raw materials" that bear my own will, and use various materials "mediation" and combine the seemingly contradictory areas and ideas of modern society to refine the new worldview with the feeling of telling a story.

Among them, "Angel" is the one that runs through my alchemy path (the path of production).

The etymology of the angels means the Latin word "enjous" and "messenger".

According to religious studies, the angels are purely spiritual beings located between those who are destined to die and God of Almighty.

In the Old Testament, angels play a role in conveying God's will to the human world.

The position of angels is not above or below humans, but they have thoughts, emotions, wills, and rank like humans.

However, their existence style is different.

Angels are "no physical form" and human beings are "physical".

The 5th and 6th centuries Theological Dionysius Aleopagita classified angels into three ranks and nine types in the Heavenly ranks.

The 3rd floor of the highest rank, Fever, wisdom, and angels serve God's side, and the next 3rd floor, the Lord, Noh and Power Angels, maintain and protect the heavenly world.

It is rare that these angels descend to earth.

The angels on the third floor of the right, large, and crowned on the next floor descend to the ground and interact with humans.

In modern times, mass culture comes from this third floor, an alien organism with white wings that appears in the subjective consciousness and impressions of the masses (e.g. Gabriel, a large angel who informed the Virgin Mary in the New Testament of the New Testament, seven angels who blow great disaster with the trumpets and a guardian angel who watches the lives of all.

A corner beast, dolphins, pentagrams ...

These beings like muses, which have always inspired me to create, become works, carry and convey my will, have become my angels.

They, with their mission, slowly descend from the heavenly Empire, which has countless possibilities, into the form of angels that can be seen both in my eyes and in your eyes.

The gate that connects the Tenjo Empire and reality is open to the center of the exhibition space as a picture.

It is located between the work and the author.

My work comes down as an angel from this gate.

This gate has infinite possibilities and continues to open as a source of my own creation.
