Redevelopment of Toei Kaikan and relocation of Toei headquarters
On May 15, 2024, Toei Co., Ltd. announced that it will demolish the Toei Kaikan in Ginza 3-2-17 after the summer of 2025, and build a commercial facility centered on hotels and stores. As a result, Toei's directly managed movie theaters, Marunouchi TOEI 1 and Marunouchi TOEI 2, will be closed at the end of the summer of 2025. In addition, Toei Kaikan is the headquarters of Toei Co., Ltd., but the headquarters will also be relocated to Kyobashi Edgran, 2-2-1 Kyobashi in Chuo-ku. The reason for the demolition is that Toei Kaikan is a building completed on September 20, 1960, and it is aging for more than 60 years, so if it is used continuously, large repair costs and renovation costs are expected. . The Toei Kaikan is owned by Toei, both buildings and land, and the development period of the site is planned to be 2025-2029. Ginza is also under construction in various places, but the scenery of Ginza will change again. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of building will be built.
