July 14th is the Paris Festival. I found it! If you come here, you will feel like you are in France "Four Selections in Chuo-ku"

July 14th is the Paris Festival, which commemorates the French Revolution. Soon, a big sporting event will begin in Paris, and it is likely that France will attract attention this summer.

The poet from the Taisho era, Sakutaro Hagiwara, who is also related to Chuo-ku, wrote, "I want to go to Fransu, but I want to go to Fransu." Even in the age of Reiwa, France still feels far away.

So, ko, sir

To you, "I want to go to France, but it's too far to go."

A cafe restaurant with accordion flows, a freshly baked croissant breakfast, and a Parisian scenery, I've been looking for a place where I can feel "France" while staying in Chuo-ku! Chuo-ku has "French-likeness" in a familiar place. Why don't you enjoy "France in Chuo-ku" too?

How about "Apero" at the terrace seat? "She Andre de Sacrecle"

Chuo-ku is home to countless French restaurants, ranging from casual shops to restaurants with Michelin stars. Among them, a special shop where I feel "Frenchishness" is "She Andre de Sacrecle" in Ningyocho, Nihonbashi. The taste and atmosphere are the "Paris Café" itself, and I often visit and immerse myself in the atmosphere of Paris.

What is special about this store is the presence of Madame Lorance, who grew up in Paris, who runs the restaurant. Rolands, who worked for a foreign-affiliated company in Nihonbashi, married Ningyocho Shochiku-an, a long-established soba shop in Ningyocho. In fact, Mr. Lorance's parents ran a cafe in Montmartre, Paris. Lorance, who found something in common in Paris's downtown Montmartre and Tokyo's downtown Ningyocho, opened "She Andre de Sacrecle" in 2008 to reproduce Paris's parents' shop in Ningyocho. A real store in Paris was born in Ningyocho!

Thanks to Lorance, who checks the store every day, she recreates the "Paris Café" in every detail, such as red eaves, wooden chairs, and gingham check bread baskets. For French lovers, it is an irresistible "Paris cafe in Tokyo". It is also good to use a cafe where you can enjoy French home cooking at reasonable prices and homemade cakes, but we recommend dinner early in the evening. In France, there is a habit of enjoying "Apero" (aperif = an aperiif = an aperiod, chatting with a light cup before dinner). French people love the light of the sun. The terrace seat on a sunny day is a cafe in Paris that is full of people who play "Apero" in the evening. There is also a terrace seat where you can enjoy the atmosphere of Paris at "Che Andre de Sacrecle". The apero on the terrace is the best!

After "Apero", I am very satisfied with the volume of Paris Bistro dishes such as quiche, putty, escalgo, steak, etc. Once or twice a month, there is a day when you can listen to Hame Anzai's full-fledged accordion performance. The sound of the accordion excites the downtown atmosphere of Paris. If you like France, it's a great place to visit.

Let's have freshly baked croissants for breakfast like a Frenchman! Kawaii Bread & Coffee

Just like freshly cooked rice is delicious, the taste of freshly baked bread is exceptional. In France, there are many people who go to bakeries from the morning in search of freshly baked bread. That's why a typical French bakery is open early in the morning. Like a Frenchman, the shop where you can buy freshly baked bread from the morning is "Kawaii Bread & Coffee" in Hatchobori.

There are many delicious bakery shops in Chuo-ku, but most of the full-fledged bakery are open from around 10 o'clock. The cute bread & coffee is a small bakery that opens at 8:00 a.m. We bake delicious bread without additives using domestic wheat, natural yeast, and organic ingredients in the store's workshop. Even before 9 o'clock, this assortment! I recommend croissant with fermented butter.

The cute interior of the store, which has the taste of the owner specializing in art and design, is worth a look even if you don't like France.

The specialty coffee is also delicious. When you have croissants and coffee with rich flavor of fermented butter, you will feel like Parisian Parisian Parisiane. The terrace seat facing the Kamejima River reminds me of the fashionable "San Martin Canal" spot in Paris.
It is the scenery of the Kamejima River seen from the terrace seats of the Kawaii Bread & Cafe.

It is said that a French tourist who actually visited the store has said that it was a "French-like store". I'm glad that it's open on Saturdays and Sundays.

[There is more "France" than traveling to France. "France Exhibition" at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store

The "French Exhibition" at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, which I look forward to every year. The "French Exhibition", which is held once a year, is a "French festival" where a selection of items based on the theme, such as French gourmet, accessories and miscellaneous goods, gather every time. The products selected by buyers of long-established department stores are collected from Japan and abroad, and there are many things that can only be purchased here, such as unreleased in Japan, opening stores for the first time, and limited events! And all of them have a good sense. Even if you travel to France, the number of stores you can visit per day is limited, but if you come to the "French Exhibition", you will encounter as many items as you travel to France for a week in just one day.

The next Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store "French Exhibition" will be closed for two weeks from September 25th (Wednesday) to October 7th (Monday), 2024 (October 1st due to the replacement date of PART1 and 2, September 25th is a special invitation date limited to MIC card members). For more information, please contact us. This event is definitely recommended for those who like France and travel.

"Is there a more "Paris" place in Tokyo? Piazza Paris

"Paris Square" is located in a corner of Ishikawajima Park in Tsukudashima, Chuo-ku. Paris and Tokyo are "sister cities", and the Seine and Sumida River are "friendship rivers". Created to commemorate the French Year in Japan in 1999, this square is home to cherry trees, a symbol of Japan, and Marronnier trees, a symbol of Paris. The cobblestones and stylish signboards look like Western Europe. Above all, isn't the shores of the Sumida River just like the banks of the Seine?

This is the perfect place to think about France. In particular, lunch and reading in the shade of trees are the best during the flowering season of Marronnier!

If you go to Paris, you should pay attention to this bench.

This bench, which can be seated on both sides with a common backrest, is modeled on a bench placed in a park in Paris. Compare this with the bench photo of the park in Paris sent by a friend living in Paris.

Oh, it's similar! When you sit on a bench and look at the flow of the river you come and go, your heart will fly to Paris!

By the way, there is a square called "Tokyo Square (Place de Tokyo)" in Paris. If you go to Paris, be sure to find it!
