The Mitsui Memorial Museum, Japan's art with the five senses
The Mitsui Memorial Museum, which houses excellent works of art in Japan, including six national treasures, will be held until September 1st, entitled "Japanese Art Playing with the Five Senses."
This exhibition is permitted to be photographed, and I would like to introduce it.
The beauty of watching and playing
The first thing you can see after entering the entrance is the delicious fruits and vegetables, works by Midoriyama Ando. A sculptor who was active from the Meiji era to the early Showa era, and seems to have been carved into ivory and painted Buddhist citrus, branch persimmons, and eggplants harvested from trees and fields and placed there. Strawberries are made of obi.
Japanese spiny lobster's free figurines are made by Yoshiyama Takase, and long beards are likely to start moving.

It is a steamer with a hole in the bottom to allow steam to enter. In the Edo period, buns were steamed and eaten.
Tsurugame Ehirasara Oukyo Maruyama Painting, Takeo Sho Edo Period
This is a flat plate painted by Oukyo Maruyama, the creator of the national treasure "Yukimatsu Figure Screen". The auspicious longevity of cranes and turtles has long been a wish.
The beauty of the scent
It is the legendary incense tree "Ranjatai" stored in the Shosoin of Todaiji Temple in Nara. It is said that it was named by Emperor Shomu. "East, Dai, and Temples" are hidden one by one. The original incense tree is 156cm long and has traces cut by Yoshimasa Ashikaga, Nobunaga Oda and Emperor Meiji. What kind of fragrance does the incense tree, which is often referred to as "the name of unification of the world", have?
Imagine a sense of touch

Lower right: (Important Cultural Property) Kuroraku Chawan Megumi Rain Cloud Koetsu Honnami Edo period
You can feel the warmth of people's hands in the pottery works. The lower part of the incense burner is a silver vessel that smells through the gap between the waves of the upper couple rock when the incense is burned with a celadon vessel of the Meiji era. It was used in Japan a long time ago across the sea.
Play the authors and works with a connection to Chuo-ku

It is the creator of "Tsukiji Akashicho", which was said to be a phantom beauty painting discovered in 2018. Along with "Hamacho Riverside" and "Shintomicho", the trilogy is set in Chuo-ku. What kind of river is Sumikawa? She is a cool woman at dusk in summer.
Taro Hachiman Yoshiya Figure by Kano Minobu Edo period
Was Yoshiie Minamotono, who is said to have prayed for victory at Kabuto Shrine's "Kabutoishi" in Nihonbashikabutocho? When it comes to painting, historical people feel familiar.
Play an art museum
Seaside Crane Figure Screen by Takayoshi Mitsui Brush 1885
This is the work of Takayoshi Mitsui, the 8th head of the Kita Mitsui family. He was also a cultural person who was familiar with various arts.
The Mitsui Memorial Museum is located on the 7th floor of the Mitsui Main Building, an important cultural property of Japan. The works of art that the Mitsui family has protected over a long period of time can be seen up close according to the season. In addition, videos of the history of the Mitsui family and tea ceremony are also shown, so why not spend the end of summer at a cool museum?
