Why a boat tour of the 11th Edo Tokyo River
It was fun to study.

As a co-sponsored event of the 17th EDO ART EXPO, we participated in the 11th Why Boat Tour of Edo and Tokyo Rivers held by Construction Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. When I boarded and heard that I was able to win the application at a rate of 7 times and participate, I thought, "I'm about to be lucky!"

Before boarding, we asked the organizer's executive committee to take a two-shot photo.

This is a commemorative photo for the first time with the blog name "Matsu in Kakigara-cho".

This course introduction

Introduction of this course 11th Why was a fun tour of the boat in Edo Tokyo / River?

 This time, it was implemented on September 20 9/21 9/24 9/25 9/27 9/28 10/1 10/5.

①Kanda River Course: Learn about disaster prevention measures, 2 Onagi River Course: Learn about changes in logistics-

③Four courses: learn about the history of Tokyo Bay Course Development, 4 Sumida River Course, and 4 Night Scenery.

I applied for the Onagi River course of 2.

The departure place is "Koto Old Nakagawa Watercolor Park Pier" near the Nakagawa Funabansho Museum, where amphibious buses arrive and depart.

By the way, according to the materials we received this time,

The information point is an infrastructure that can only be experienced by boat. I would like to talk about the role and structure of the Ogibashi Lock Gate, also known as the Mini Panama Canal in central Tokyo.

What is Komon?

"The lock is a facility for" boats "to pass between water surfaces with different water levels. It is also called the "water elevator."

In the explanation of the Ogibashi Lock Gate,

Year of completion: 1976 (Showa 51), lock width: 11m, Mr. Hinokuchi, Director: 110m

The Ogibashi Lock Gate is located almost in the center of the Onagi River, which runs east and west through the Koto Delta area, and can be said to be a "mini panama Canal" that allows ships to pass through rivers with different water levels. The mechanism is to pass the ship by putting a ship into a waterway (lock room) sandwiched between two sluice gates and artificially raising the water level. During the season when it is easy to get close to the waterside, such as in summer, many ships such as pleasure boats come and go. (Source: Tokyo Metropolitan Construction Bureau website)

Well, it's a departure!

Bansho Bridge, the first bridge over Onagi Bridge

Bansho Bridge, the first bridge over Onagi Bridge, the 11th Why was a fun tour of the boat in Edo Tokyo and the river?

When you leave with excitement, you will pass under the first bridge. It's "Bansho Bridge".

During the Edo period, there was a "ship guard" here, which cracked down on inspection of boat traffic and cargo.

The Onagi River was a very important route because it was excavated to transport salt made in Gyotoku to Nihonbashi.

It was also called the "Salt Road".

Onagi River Bridge

Onagi River Bridge 11th Why did you enjoy visiting the boat tour of the river in Edo Tokyo?

On the way, I passed the Shionomichi Bridge, Maruhachi Bridge, Sunashima Bridge, Shinkai Bridge, Onagi River Bridge, and Clover Bridge. .

The materials distributed to the participants 2 Onagi River course to learn about the transition of logistics are very useful.

I would like to use it in the future.

Regarding the mechanism of the Ogibashi Lock Gate, I would like to see the following:

The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Construction website is kind and has a detailed explanation.

Opening of the Shin-Onagi River Sluice Gate

Opening of the Shin-Onagi River Sluice Gate 11th Why did you enjoy visiting the boat in Edo Tokyo / River?

Once the water level was the same as the gate that was injected and entered, the water level of the pool (lockroom) was the same, so after draining, the sluice gate was opened and moved forward.

Pass the lock safely and proceed along the Onagi River toward the Sumida River.

Passing through the Shin-Onagi River sluice gate and Mannen Bridge in front, it is finally the Sumida River.

After passing Mannen Bridge, Sumida River Kiyosu Bridge distant view

After passing Mannen Bridge, Sumida River Kiyosu Bridge distant view Why was a fun study tour of the 11th Edo Tokyo River Why did you enjoy visiting the boat?

 Well, here's a sightseeing trip in Chuo-ku.

Kiyosu Bridge in a distant view. It is said that the name was derived from the name of Kiyosumi-cho, Fukagawa-ku at that time and Nakasucho in Nihonbashi-ku.

It was built along with Eitai Bridge as an earthquake reconstruction project.

Kachidokibashi, Eitai Bridge, and Kiyosu Bridge are registered as important cultural properties as Mitsuhashi over the Sumida River.

According to Toyomibashi Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia

According to Toyomibashi Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia, why was a fun tour of the 11th Edo Tokyo / River?

Its history is old, and a wooden bridge was built in 1698 (1698) and was called "Toyomi Bridge" or "Otome Bridge".

In 1903 (1903), it was replaced by a wooden bridge to an iron bridge, but collapsed in the Great Kanto Earthquake. Later, a bridge was planned as one of the earthquake reconstruction bridges, and was completed in 1927 (1927). (Omitted) It adopts an unusual design that looks like a ladder is rolled down. (Hereinafter referred to as “Submission”)

According to the "Chuo-ku Monoshiri Encyclopedia" that can be seen on foot.

The current bridge is a two-piece stone arch bridge, which was completed in 1911. The decoration was architect Yorinaka Tsumaki, who was in charge of (omitted).

It was designated as a national important cultural property in 1999. In 2011 (2011), an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Nihonbashi Bridge was held in the Nihonbashi area. Above

I thought it was a long time ago, but

The year before this commemorative event, the Nihonbashi Tourist Information Center was opened in 2010.

Danjuro Ichikawa and Sakata Tojuro board the dock of the current waterfall square and came to be called the "Sou Juro Riverside".

I have a very nostalgic memory.
