However, on October 19, "Yabusame," I learned that tickets for foreign seats were available.

It seems only a miracle to see Yabusame in Chuo-ku, so I was able to get a ticket for 12:30, "Oh, to Chuo-ku."

And I got a seat near the guest seat on the day!

At the front row, I was very impressed to see the moment when the arrow broke the target of the diamond-shaped cypress board.

"Yabusame," Since ancient times, it is a type of jockey that has been transmitted to Japan. It is a brave technique in which a archer runs a horse at full speed and shoots three targets set up at a length of 218m with a bow and arrow.

This time, it was about 80m long, so it was to shoot one target.

Kiyoki Ogasawara, the 31st son of the sect, carefully explained the commentary on Yabusame.

 

The history of Yabusame dates back to the Heian period. During the Kamakura period, Mitsuru Hisashi Ogasawara was ordered as Minamoto no Yoritomo's "Joho" (archery and etiquette).

 

In the Edo period, in 1724, under the order of the 8th Shogun Yoshimune Tokugawa, the 20th owner, Sadamasa Ogasawara, established the Yabusame Reiho.

 

Yabusame was regarded as one of the most important techniques for samurai, and has been dedicated to believers from all over Japan as a Shinto ritual to pray for Taihei Tenka and National Security.

 

This tradition of Yabusame was passed down by the Ogasawara-ryu as the role of the Shogun family in the samurai era, which lasted more than 700 years, and its skills and spirit continue to live throughout Japan.

This project was a revolutionary project, and I felt that it was the best production of Amon Miyamoto, a famous performer.

First of all, Edo culture was born around Nihonbashi, the starting point and end point of Gokaido.

It was a special event that taught Japanese traditional culture such as martial arts (Yabusame, judo, karate), and performing arts (Edo fire extinguisher woodworking, wearing, ladder riding, Ogasawara style, tea ceremony, Noh, Kabuki, Japanese music, Ukiyo-e) directly from Iemoto and teacher.
