[The 57th Excursion Series] Visit spots related to the Arima family in Kurume City

Hello, my name is Hanes.
It's only a month to leave this year in no time, but are you all over?

I had the opportunity to visit Fukuoka the other day.
The relationship with Chuo-ku, which came to mind when I heard about Fukuoka Prefecture, was the Arima family of the Kurume Domain.
Therefore, this time, we will introduce spots related to the Arima family that we visited in Kurume City in connection with spots in Chuo-ku.

The first thing I visited was Suitengu in Kurume City, which is the main shrine of Suitengu nationwide.

On the signboard on the precincts, you can see the description about Suitengu in Nihonbashikakigaracho, saying, "Suitengu in Tokyo was the one that wrote to Edo from here in 1818 when Yorinori Arima, feudal lord."

In the Edo era, there were many people who threw money over the fence, so the Arima family residence was opened to the general Edo kid only on the 5th day.
In this way, it made it possible to worship Suitengu Shrine, so it was called "Suitengu of Warrima" and became popular.

Of course, the four pillars of God are enshrined.
For more information about the history of God and Suitengu, please visit the official website of Suitengu in Nihonbashikakigaracho.
Also, for the Kyushu location, there is a sumo room where you can use this as a dormitory and practice morning lessons.

Next, I visited the ruins of Kurume Castle, one of Japan's 100 Great Castles.

Even now, stone walls and inner moats can remind you of the castles of the time, and on the premises there is the Shinoyama Shrine, which enshrines the feudal lord Sotoyo, the Arima Memorial Hall, which mainly displays materials such as armor and crafts from successive feudal lord, as well as materials from the Kurume feudal government.

When you approach the memorial hall, you will see a plate that says "Arima Memorial Hall Donated Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd. in March 1960" and "Renovation to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the Kurume municipal organization's 120th anniversary of Shojiro Ishibashi's birth" You.

Bridgestone Co., Ltd. is a company that has a relationship with Chuo-ku, such as the Artizon Museum (formerly Bridgestone Museum of Art), headquartered in Kyobashi and holding a collection collected by founder Shojiro Ishibashi.

So why is there a facility related to Bridgestone in a place away from Chuo-ku?
The answer is that Shojiro Ishibashi is from Kurume City.
This time, I actually visited the ruins of Kurume Castle and learned for the first time about Mr. Ishibashi's hometown.

It would be fun to visit spots related to Chuo-ku outside Chuo-ku and have new discoveries about Chuo-ku.♪
I would like to continue to introduce such discoveries in the "Excursion Series".
