Highway Expo 2024 in Nihonbashi Traditional Crafts Experience Meeting
A traditional craft experience event for Kaido Expo 2024 was held in Nihonbashi.
Craftsmen and volunteers taught me how to make specialty crafts such as "Odawara Tsutsumi Light", "Hakone Work", "Suruga Take Sensuji Work", and "Edo Kiriko", which illuminate the widespread "Edo Folding" road.
I was able to make the Odawara lanterns designed for Nihonbashi happily, and immediately decorated them at home.
Edo folding fan painting experience
Under the guidance of a craftsman of Ibasen, a long-established folding fan established in 1590, he draws pictures on the fan and makes original folding fans. The fan surface you drew will be finished into a fan and sent to your home. Painting was done using the same pigment used by craftsmen.
Odawara lantern production experience
In the Edo period, Odawara lanterns, invented under Odawara Castle, spread on highways as convenient travel tools. Experience the making of Odawara lanterns sung in fairy tales with the members of the Odawara Lantern Production Volunteer Association. It seems that all sixth graders in Odawara City make Odawara lanterns.
Fujieda Chaai Group Experience
Fujieda City has two post stations, Okabe and Fujieda, and has long prospered as a center for tea. Experience the combination (blend) of tea master and Fujieda tea.
We blend green tea, hojicha, and black tea as you like to make original blend tea.
Suruga bamboo sensuji craft production experience
Suruga Bamboo Sensuji Craft is a unique and beautiful craft that is assembled with thin bamboo straws. I enjoyed the experience of bamboo craft in the Suruga region, which has been handed down since the Edo period. Suruga bamboo sensuji work, which creates soft curves and delicate patterns while using bamboo that stretches straight, is wonderful.
