The river in Chuo-ku is interesting! 3 [Cleaning Ship 2]
Hello, this is Minato kid.
On the Sumida River, I found an interesting yellow ship. In fact, it seems that this is a ship that cleans the river. Last time, I introduced the cleaning boats of the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Construction. This yellow cleaning boat introduced this time is managed by Tokyo Wharf Co., Ltd.
In the center of the ship, there is a large space for receiving garbage. I just met a place just below Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge and was able to take pictures from above. It's a big scoop! You can see the structure of the ship well.
The name is "Daini Harumi Maru". It is 13m long, 6.6m wide, 1.7m deep, and has 230ps x 2 horsepower. Every day, we work with other cleaning boats and go around each place, and the total area is as much as 100 Tokyo Disneyland! It seems that the collected garbage includes non-combustible garbage such as tires and vinyl, and some of them include home appliances.
Currently, six Harumi Marus are traveling around the coast of Tokyo Bay. In Chuo-ku, the second Harumi Maru is active in the Sumida River, and the sixth Harumi Maru is active in the Harumi Canal and the Asashio Canal. The sixth Harumi Maru is a type in which a basket-shaped wire mesh is attached to the center of the photo.
In recent years, waterfront development has progressed, terraces have been improved, hotels and restaurants have been established along the river, and the waterside has become a familiar place for people to relax. Thanks to the cleaning boat that always cleans the river!
