Art Hisui Sugiura, a painter who looked up at the New Year's Day Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi New Building

I'm looking forward to seeing "Nihonbashi Architectural Decoration" serialized by Taro Igarashi of "Monthly Nihonbashi Nihonbashi".

In the December issue, "The 48th Design of Hisui Sugiura, Decoration in the Store", was introduced.

I've been to Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi many times, but I've never turned up when I get on the elevator of the new building from the exit of the Hanzomon Line. I looked up. It is decorated with a picture of a very nice flying beautiful woman.

And a few pictures are displayed to surround her.

At the top right of this picture, a pine decoration is drawn.

On the lady's head, it says, "January 1, 1914, Volume 5, No. 1."

Therefore, this picture seems to have been drawn for the New Year's issue.

Beautiful black hair has a rabbit hair ornament. The New Year's dress is a suggestion like this.

The Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store made a "Department Declaration" and became the first department store in Japan in 1904 (1904).

Japan would have been on the way to develop bright and sunny from the severe economy until then.

At the top right of this picture, "Mitsukoshi Masagetsugo" is written.

Because of the New Year's issue, a prominent plum blossom is drawn over the lady's head.

On the left end, it is written, "Vol. 16, No. 15 January 1, 1915".

Like the picture on the previous page, it is the January 1 issue.

The hair seems to be dyed with blond hair, and is it a little perm?

What is Hisui Sugiura?

The December issue of "Monthly Nihonbashi" included works by graphic designer Hisui Sugiura (1876-1965), who once belonged to the Design Department. ・・ ・ ・ ・ "These are the ones that commemorate Mitsukoshi's 350th anniversary of its founding and used his posters and PR magazine designs for interior decoration." Thank you very much for your quotation.

I was interested in Hisui Sugiura, so I looked a little more on the Internet. I'll omit it.

Please read the December issue of "Monthly Nihonbashi Nihonbashi". And take a look at the real picture at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi New Building.
