The latest gallery welcomes you with TODA BUILDING Art
In early December, I walked from the Chuo-ku Tourist Information Center toward Nihonbashi.
In Kyobashi Aya Ward, Toda Construction's new office building TODA BUILDING has been completed, and there is a large park-like space in front of the entrance.
Here, an object like a spiral staircase like a slide made of iron is displayed.
This work is an object called Steps, produced by Atsuko Mochida.
The material is described on the panel at the feet with a description of steel and steel extract metal.
The ART POWER KYOBASHI leaflet, which I obtained, explains Atsuko Mochida's work as follows. "Possibilities of spirals - To Infinite Opportunities As a new symbol of TODA BUILDING, we will create works with features such as spiral structure, rotation, circulation, chain, pendulum movement, and sustainability that symbolize the mobility, movement, and flexibility of people gathering in the building, as well as stimulating upwards and sustainability into the future." The exhibition will be held in March 2026. ※The end date of the exhibition is undecided. Venue: Admission is free on the 1-2nd floor entrance lobby.
ART POWER KYOBASHI is abbreviated as APK.
Through the practice of unique art programs, such as the presentation of works by emerging artists at APK PUBLIC and the creation of a place for creation and exchange at APK STUDIES, various artists from Kyobashi grow up, transmit, and appreciate artists We aim to build an ecosystem of towns through art. The various arts developed in this place will become part of the food of people's lives, and will continue to renew the town as the culture of the town, thereby fostering the cultural value of the Kyobashi area.
Large stairwell
I entered TODA BUILDING and received permission from the receptionist.
At the atrium from the first floor to the top, a large eagle is fluttering as if Atsuko Mochida's work spread its wings.
On the second floor, there is a work that moves like a wave drawn by six iron balls.
The third floor is Gallery Complex
YKG Yutaka Kikutake Gallery
At the entrance of the gallery, the theme is "Sasameki Amaki Manzo no Mori" Whispers in the Wholeness.
When I entered the room, there was a green forest. There was a picture of a genderless child with unknown gender.
(I've seen Michi Nara's work at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, and I like it.)
When I told the staff who was in the room, "I'm in the work drawn by Michi-san," I was happy to say, "That's right." This work is scheduled to be exhibited until December 21st.
The business card I received was written as YKG Yutaka Kikutake Gallery, and I was allowed to take photos and post them on correspondent blogs.
In a room in the gallery on the third floor, I found a sticker called "Art Plaza".
Art Plaza in Kyobashi Aya-ku 84.0 Central FM radio program "Art Plaza in Kyobashi Aya-ku".
Broadcasts are written every month on the first and third Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00.
Gallery & Bakery Tokyo, 8 minutes on the first floor, on the path of cultural history.
On the first floor, there is a shop called "Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 minutes". There is also a counter seat and a space where you can relax on the sofa.
Let's go around the outside. In addition to the explanation of Kyoichi's portable shrine, Hiroshige Utagawa residence, and Kano Nakabashi residence, I saw a panel explaining the birthplace of women's drug discovery and was impressed by reading the secret story of the founding.
