I love the winter street trees

The winter deciduous tree, whose leaves fall, brings the sun to the walking people and gives warmth. For that reason, the street trees seem to be overwhelmingly deciduous tree. In addition, when the leaves fall, the branches and trunks appear, and you can clearly see the branches and trunk patterns that differ depending on the type of tree. For me, it is one of the pleasures of walking around the city in winter.

In front of the zelkova theater

Zelkova @Kabukiza-mae I love the winter street trees

A zelkova that spreads branches like a fan shape. A beautiful branch like a bamboo garden broom turned upside down is even more prominent in winter. The trunk is grayish brown and smooth. The shape of the bark peeled off like scales varies, and I think it is quite interesting.

Ginkgo @ Miharabashi Intersection

Ginkgo @ Miharabashi Intersection I love the winter street trees

Ginkgo is the most commonly planted street tree in Japan, most of which are pruned in a conical shape. Surprisingly, it is registered as a "wild endangered species" on the Red List of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) (only a small number of wild species identified in China).

Aogiri @ Shinkyobashi Intersection

Aogiri @ Shinkyobashi Intersection I love the winter street trees

Aogiri with an impressive branch that grew. The trunk skin is green (in the past, green and blue) and the leaves resemble fir leaves, so it seems to have been named Aogiri. It is also characterized by strong vitality and excellent fire resistance.

In front of Platanus @ Tsukiji Honganji

Platanus @ Tsukiji Honganji I love the street trees in winter

Platanus with a magnificent branch. It is said that most of the platanus planted in Japan are Momijibasuzukakenoki (a hybrid of Suzukakenoki and American Suzukakenoki, which is resistant to air pollution). The camouflage trunk skin that appears when the bark peels off is very unique.

When the trees become "naked", you can see that the same type has a different expression one by one. It is a winter street tree that is as delicious as you can see, but as the season when the trees bud is approaching, will it be time to look forward to this winter?
