"Takao Inari no Sha" for healing power spot headaches in Edo
The Edo Shinto Buddha Application Shigehoki (published 1814, 1814), which can be said to be the power spot guide of the Edo period, introduces various beneficial Shinto and Buddhas in Edo City, and the first one is the Takao Inari Shrine. Below, "I borrow a comb from Eitai Bridge Nishizume Headache Shrine, pray for "Takao Daimyojin" in the morning and evening, and return two after fulfillment (one borrowed and a new comb). It is written carefully about what it works and how it works. It depends on the history that Takao Inari came to be said to be effective for headaches.
According to the historical book at the shrine, "The dead body of Dayu Takao, which is said to have been hung on the ship without following the will of Tsunamune Date in Sendai feudal lord, was reclaimed, and a company was built here to worship divine spirit Takao Daimyojin and made it Takao Inari. Inari, where the real divine spirit (real skull) is enshrined as a god of worship, is rare in Japan."
Tsunamune Date is the third generation feudal lord of the Sendai Domain, and is known for its "Gara Predai Hagi" modeled on the Date riot, which was retired after the indemnity, but now it is not performed, but the premiere in 1777.
(1777)Since then, it may have been well known to the public in the Edo period. It can be seen at "Miuraya inner room Place" in "Date's Ten Roles", which is famous for Sarunosuke's early replacement.
Dayu Takao is said to have been 7th to 11th generations throughout the Edo period under the name of "Tayu", the highest prostitute of Miuraya Shin-Yoshiwara. The worshiped Daio is the second generation and has been called "Takao Manji" and "Takao Sendai" since his death, and the sixth generation is known for the rakugo "Takao Konya".
The grade of prostitutes has changed in the Edo period, but "Tayu" was the most common in 1800, 3 in 1813, and no later. The grades underneath are lattice, call, tea, and lunch. ("Yoshiwara and Shimabara" Takeo Ono)
The second generation Takao had a lover of Tottori clansman in the street, so he was not willing to take care of Tsunamune Date, so he paid 3,000 pieces of Date clan, a large feudal clan.
Takao's tombs are located at Saihoji Temple in Nishisugamo, which was moved from Shin-Yoshihara, and at Shunkeiin Temple in Shin-Yoshiwara. It seems to be effective not only for headache but also for hair and head ulcers. I couldn't find the comb this time, so I'd like to look for it again next time.
