Harumi Wharf Sea Day Event "Sea and Japan Project IN Harumi"
Hello. This is Harumi Madame.
This time, I would like to report on the “Sea and Japan Project IN Harumi” held in Harumi, my hometown on July 15th of the past day.
Twice a year at Harumi Wharf, "Tokyo Minato matsuri" in mid-May and this July Sea Day, several boats are open to the public.
It is a great opportunity to see various inside ships, which are usually hard to enter, and to learn about ships and the sea.
There were a total of four boats released this time.
①EMERALD ACE, an automobile carrier of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines
②Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel "Izu"
③The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)
④Theatre "STTU48"
In this case, 1 is required to register in advance. There are age restrictions (elementary school students and above). It's a coincidence.
In addition, 4 “STUD48” is one of the AKB48 groups and is a dedicated boat theater with the topic of the idol group STU48 based in 7 prefectures of Setouchi.
I took a closer look at the ship 2.3 this time.
③"Hakuho Maru" is a large-scale research vessel transferred from the Institute of Marine Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, following the establishment of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology in 2004. We conduct research not only in the waters near Japan but also in seas around the world, including the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean, and the Polar Ocean.
There are 10 laboratories on board, rather than ships, in the research building of the university.
There were also a laboratory called a clean room where experiments could be carried out under aseptic conditions, and a wet lab where sample processing was performed.
In fact, researchers sometimes show us the creatures that have entered large and small investigators collected from the seabed inside.
There was also a luxurious room called a salon where senior researchers and some officers had dinner, etc., and the researcher laughed, saying, "I have never eaten here."
I was curious about the tour, and I had another feeling for me. 。 。 Actually, this ship has a deep connection to the Harumi Wharf. 。 。
It seems that Harumi was the home port when he returned to Tokyo for many years, and it was anchored in front of Harumi Wharf Park, and it was a boat that I often see when I went to Harumi Wharf to see Tokyo Bay. The ship, which has impressive T initials and ginkgo marks, was very nice to see it emerge in the view of the pier at dusk, and was part of my favorite scenery. I often saw people who came to take pictures.
I couldn't see it due to the construction of the Olympic athlete village at Harumi Wharf Park, and this reunion where I felt lonely! ? That's right.
The patrol boat "Izu" is active at the forefront of marine rescue operations
And two patrol boats "Izu"
This is a patrol boat of the Japan Coast Guard, so I presented my ID on the day and registered it, and it was a tour.
Based on lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the patrol boat is a "disaster response type" patrol boat equipped with communication equipment and the ability to transport relief supplies to the affected areas so that they can conduct on-site command in the event of a large-scale disaster.
There was also a photo of the discovery of an unknown person after Great East Japan Earthquake.
In addition, there is a room (pictured) like an operating room or hospitalization room of a hospital that provides care and nursing for rescuers, and you can feel here and there that it is a ship that operates at the forefront of salvage.
What kind of sight will spread during rescue such as actual marine accidents here? I feel even nervous when I imagine it.
The dining room, kitchen, bath, etc. are designed to allow many crew members to live regularly, and have no gorgeousness and practical impression.
There is also a heliport on the outside deck, and a lot of divers will explain the equipment in the room next to it which is equipped with support equipment for divers.
He actually carries an oxygen cylinder, etc., or touches a swim suit.
I talked to a diver with a sunburned smile and trained muscles.
Q ・ "Why did you aim to become a patrol boat crew?"
A ・ "I love surfing and other leisure activities in the sea, so I wanted to get a job related to the sea. I wonder if it would be nice to have a job that would help others."
Q ・ "What kind of site did you actually go to?"
A ・ "I was rescued at the sinking site of a ship off Choshi the other day. After diving, I heard the sound inside the ship."
Q ・ "It's that overturn that was the news. Wasn't you scared?"
A ・ "I'm okay when I'm rescued on site because my adrenaline is terrible! ! !」
I felt very reliable. The sea around Japan is protected by these people.
Like this. 。 。
It's an event where you can talk directly with the people on the actual ship.
Harumi, Chuo-ku, is a town where the scenery changes every day, becoming an athlete village for the Tokyo Olympics approaching one year later, but such events that can only be done by facing the sea are also attractive towns.
