"Bellabo ~ Tsutashige Eika no Yume-banashi ~" Episode 19 'Scalls'

"Bellabo ~ Tsutashige Sakae Kano Yume Story ~" Episode 19 "Small of scales" and "Relationship with Chuo-ku: Berabo ~ Tsutashige Eikano Yume Story ~12" ~ Ikezu Inari Shrine: Ringataya Sonbei (played by Ainosuke Kataoka)-July 22 (Tue) Nihonbashiodenmacho "Ikesu Summer Festival" will be held!

In the 19th episode aired on May 18 (Sun), "Urokogata Yamagobee" (played by Ainosuke Kataoka) folded the store and left Nihonbashi. With the assistance of Suharaya Ichibe (played by Kotaro Satomi), the scale shop became a powerful supporter of Tsutashige, leaving "scales souvenirs" in Tsutashige.

At the time of the breakup, the scale shop apologized to Tsutashige for what happened so far, and handed Tsutashige a board of the "Shiouri Bunta Monogatari", the only remaining burnt in the large fire. "Shiouri Bunta Monogatari" is the first book I bought by Tsutashige, and it was a memorable book that I presented to Segawa (played by Koshiba Kazeka) when I was a child and loved until Segawa (Sei) became obsolete. The two laughed together with tears, and were finally drawn to connect their hearts.

After the drama, "Bellabo Journey" introduced the state of the scale shop depicted in books from the Edo period, and "Ikeshu Inari Shrine" next to the shop was also introduced.

The title image is "Tsururindo (Tsururindo)" by scale shop Sonbei, drawn in "Mimasu Masurinso" (written by Harumachi Koikawa) (Source: National Diet Library). It is a state of the storefront. On the third sign from the left, the title of the book is written. The person sitting in the back is said to be Sonbei. On the right side of the shop is Ikeshu Inari Shrine.

The image is a huge hit work by scale shop Sonbei, and is one of the "scale souvenirs", "Harumachi Koikawa" (played by Tenne Okayama), one of the "scale souvenirs". Kinkin Senseieiga no Yume (Source: Tokyo Metropolitan Library).

Ringataya Sonbei

In the first year of Yasunaga (1772), Tsutashige opened a bookstore "Koshodo" in Yoshihara at the age of 23. At that time, the main product was "Yoshiwara Hosomi" (Yoshiwara's guidebook).

At that time, Hosomi Yoshiwara was almost monopolized by publishers, Ringataya Sonbei. Ringataya Sonbei is a long-established store that set up a store in O Temmacho around 1658-60 (Manji period), and had a history of more than 100 years in the Tsutashige era. Picture books and joruri books were published, but the woodblock prints of treasure ships issued during the New Year and "Yoshiwara Hosomi" issued in spring and autumn (old calendar is New Year and July).

As a result of continuing to publish old information without much revision, "Yoshiwara Hosomi" lost trust, and Yoshiwara was crushed by being taken by customers in Oka places (private prostitutes) established in various places (private prostitutes) There was also a mise (gikoro), and at its peak, the number of prostitutes who had more than 3,000 people was reduced to two-thirds. In the first episode, Tsutashige asked Okitsugu Tanuma (played by Ken Watanabe) to "let go of the Oka place", and Okitsugu asked, "What are you doing?" The scenes that influenced life, and the scenes where the former Oiran "morning glory" (played by Reika Aiki), who helped Tsutashige as a child, was thrown away naked. Was.

The scale shop also thought that this would be bad, and in order to make Hosomi's information updated to the latest version, I decided to leave it to Tsutashige, who knows all about Yoshiwara and also knows about books, "Hosomi Change", that is, the editor-in-chief of the guidebook.

On the New Year's Day of Yasunaga 3 (1774), Ringataya Sonbei published Hosomi Yoshiwara "Saiken Aoedo". In this publication of Hosomi Yoshiwara, it is described as "Kohomi Kaigoshi Retail Management Service Shinyoshiwara Ikumado Sarikawa Juzaburo Tsutaya". "Change" means editing with the latest information. This book was also talked about when the preface was written by Kigai Fukuchi (Gennai Hiraga), a popular Joruri writer at the time. This is the first publication to confirm the name of Tsutashige.

A big hit product inspired by a scale shop that has regained the trust of "Yoshiwara Hosomi" is a book of a genre called "Yellow Cover". The first installment of "Yellow Book" is a work called "Kinkin Sensei Eiga no Yume" written by Harumachi Koikawa in 1775 and drew illustrations. It seems that the subtitle of Taiga drama series "Tsutaju Eiga no Yumebanashi-" is compared to this book. "Kinyosen Eika Yume" is a story in which a poor young man who came to Edo from the countryside experiences the common success and fall in Edo with a dream of one sleep (a short time until Awamochi is completed). . When this was successful, Ringataya wrote the story in a series by playwright Kisanji Hoseido (played by Toshinori Omi) and illustrations by Harumachi Koikawa, and released hits one after another.

"Kin" is a buzzword at the time that refers to the fashion of the latest fashion and the latest play, and Kinin-sensei meant Dateo of the world. The author of "Tosei Customs" published in Yasunaga 2 (1773) is Kinkin Saeru, Kizoji Hoseido. Kisanji was called Mr. Kinkan among his friends.

In the New Year of Yasunaga 4 (1775), Tsutashige was also involved in the spring Yoshiwara Hosomi "Hosomi Flower Source" by Ringataya Sonbei as a replacement, but Yoshiwara Hosomi's work in the scale-ya Sonbei version is now the last.

In May 1775, the pirated version of the Osaka version of the character dictionary "Additional Hayabiki Setsuyoshu" was created in Edo, and the publisher of Osaka filed a lawsuit in Edo. According to the testimony of this time, it was a large-scale pirated version of 71 woodblocks and 3,400 prints were printed. Three years later, in Yasunaga 7 (1778), selling pirated characters, Ringataya Sonbei was punished and ran into management difficulties due to a large fine. In response to this case, it was difficult to reach the publication of Yoshiwara Hosomi, and scaleya Sonbei fell into a situation where Yoshiwara Hosomi could not publish in the fall of Yasunaga 4 (1775). .

The fact that Yoshiwara Hosomi is not published is unacceptable in Yukaku Yoshiwara, and with the backup of Yoshiwara, Hosomi Yoshiwara "Magaki no Hana" in the fall (July) of Yasunaga 4 (1775) Will be issued by Tsutashige for the first time. Tsuta Heavy Edition Hosomi is one size larger than the scaled version, and while maintaining the same amount of information, the number of pages decreased, and as a result, the number of woodblocks and labor costs for sculptors and printers decreased, so the production cost was reduced. I was able to wholesale cheaply. In 1776, the scale shop reopened Hosomi's publication, but it was already late, easy to use, accurate, and inexpensive Tsutaya version.

The image is an Edo-kiri picture (digital collection of the National Diet Library). The bookstore "Tsururindo (Tsururindo)" of Ringataya Sonbei was located in Togo-cho and next to Ikezu Inari Shrine, so it was located in the place described in the figure. Tsurigo-cho is said to be the origin of the town name because of "Hago", that is, there were many inns. "Tsururindo" is called "Daimaru Shindo" just south of "Nikko-Oshu Kaido" on the main street where Tsutashige's "Koshodo" and "Senkakudo" on Kiemon Tsuruya were located. It was along the street called. Here, there is "Omaruya" (the predecessor of the current Daimaru Department Store), which is counted as one of the three major kimono shops in Edo (Echigoya, Shirakiya, Daimaruya), and the back street of Daimaru was called "Daimaru Shindo". Was.
