Fireworks at Sumida

Slightly cool Sumida River

You guys. It's hot this summer, isn't it? If you think it's hot and hot, and spend time in a cool building as much as possible, it will be late in August. The midsummer sun seems to be over.

But when I walk outside during the day, it's still hot~

Many of the August articles I wrote in the past have been walking around the waterside at night, when it gets a little cooler, but this August is also like that. But this time, I would like to introduce it with a little wonder so that it can be cooler than usual.

After soaking in the scenery of the inn in the Yanagibashi area over the Kanda River, I went down from Hashizume to the terrace of the Sumida River. This place is the closest place to the Sky Tree in Chuo-ku. So the photo is the largest tree seen from Chuo-ku.

It was only one year before the Tokyo Paralympic Games next year, so it was a limited-time coloring. This whitish tree seems to be a limited color until around 19 o'clock, and it looks cool and nice. This place where the Kanda River pours into the Sumida River has a very large surface of the water, and a moderate wind makes you feel cool.

From here, go through Ryogoku Bridge and walk down the Sumida River Terrace downstream. Then, a beautifully maintained flower bed will appear.

Looking back, I photographed the Ryogokubashi area, but isn't it cool and bad to look at the flowers blooming at night like this? But I think it's better to see it under the blue sky. If it gets a little cooler, I'd like to come again.

Someone in the Sumida River tell me the Seven Wonders

I think it's better to walk along the Sumida River, but there are some mysteries or wonders that I don't understand yet. This is one of them.

 Slightly cool Sumida River

It is an object like an alien at the dock in Hamacho, who is not sure whether it should be an object. There are two, no, two. What is it? On this night, the Oedo Festival Bon Dance Festival was held at nearby Hamacho Park, and the area was lively, but it was usually quiet and lonely. If you look at the middle of the night, you can get a little cold.

The bridge above is the Metropolitan Expressway Bridge, which is called "Ryogoku Ohashi". The bridge girder is a good picture frame, and it is a very beautiful place where colorful neon lights are reflected on the surface of the water, but thanks to this alien, I am still scared at night. If you have time when you come nearby, please take a look at it in the daytime and try to solve the mystery.

By the way, Ryogoku Ohashi is said to be 50 years since it was completed this year. It looks like an uninteresting bridge, but what is often introduced is that the upper bridge girder hangs the bridge girder at the bottom. It seems to be a revolutionary technology at that time, and it is a venerable bridge that was also selected as the "Civil Engineers Tanaka Award", which is said to be the most prestigious award in the bridge field.

There are still a few mysteries of the Sumida River that I think, but this time I will just mention one more. Walk from the upstream and pass through Shinohashi, Kiyosubashi, Sumida River Ohashi, and downstream, near the IBM building in Hakozaki. If you look at the Sumida River Terrace, there is a mysterious space that looks like a golfing.

 Slightly cool Sumida River

It seems that there is a facility in this building that supplies heat to the area using the water of the Sumida River. Is it a related facility? It's dangerous, so you should never hit a golf ball, but if you hit it, I wondered if it would reach the opposite bank.

What is the width of the Sumida River in this area? I checked the length of the nearby bridge.

   Kiyosu Bridge 186.3m
   Eitai Bridge 184.7m

So it looks like a river width of about 180m. It's about 200 yards when converted to a yard, so if you're an adult male, it's a distance that can reach even a carryy.

By the way, if you look at the length of other bridges, you can see that the river bridge is on the river.

   Ryogoku Bridge 164.5m
   Shinohashi 170.0m

Whereas, downstream

   Chuo-ohashi Bridge 210.7m
   246.0m Kachidokibashi
   Tsukiji Ohashi 245.0m

In addition, the bridge downstream is longer. In addition, the tall structures of Chuo-ku are listed.

 St. Luke's Tower 220.6m
Harumi Triton Square X Building 194.9m
 Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower 194.7m

177.5m chimney at the Central Incineration Plant in Harumi

And the river width around the IBM Hakozaki Building seems to be about the same as the height of the Harumi chimney.

That's why I'm going to talk about the Sumida River at night, but it's a matter of care. I'm sure it was boring and a little cold.

Although the end of August is approaching, I think the remaining heat will continue. The Sumida River from dusk to night when it gets a little cooler. I think there are still many mysteries, so I hope you can walk while looking for it.
