2019 Lighting by Nittoku for Disaster Prevention
September 1 is the day of disaster prevention. On September 1, 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake occurred at 11:59 on September 1, 1923, and the lessons learned from the Ise Bay Typhoon, which killed about 5,000 people in the previous year, the government, local governments, and other related organizations.
One week including this day is designated as "Disaster Prevention Week", and lectures and exhibitions on disaster prevention, implementation of disaster prevention drills, and commendation of those who have contributed to disaster prevention are held by the national and local governments.
At the Tokyo Sky Tree, a special white lighting with the thought of requiem for victims of the Great Kanto Earthquake is lit. You can see a simple white glow from Chuo-ohashi Bridge. This year's disaster prevention day was reached at the end of August in northern Kyushu suffering from record heavy rains. It is a day of reconsideration of self-help preparation during normal times, including inspection of disaster prevention / evacuation goods.
