On the north side of Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge Nishizume, there is the site of the Tsukuda Island ferry port on the former Funa Matsumachi side. In front of the Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge Bridge, I got on and off from this place as the last ferry boat on the Sumida River. According to the explanation board, it seems that there was a ferryboat here since the Edo period, but let's look at the materials what it really looks like.

Late Edo period

This is an old map of the Ansei period. On the ferry route, two routes are drawn from the mouth of the Tepposu River, "Tsukuda's ferry" and "Yoroba's ferry". The "Yoseba" is the "Ninsoku Yoseba" of Ishikawajima. In the Meiji Taisho era, the two bridges over the mouth of the Tepposu River were "Tepposu Bridge" on the estuary side and "Kobashi" on the land side.

The Edo Famous Zoukai, which depicts this area, shows the scenery of the ferryboat viewed from a bird's-eye view.

➊The place is the ferryboat during the Edo period, and GL is the place where the monument is currently located. Template will be on the side of Tsukuda Island.

How was it during the Meiji period? On the map of the early Meiji era, the estuary of the gunshot river is the ferryboat as in the Edo period.

On the map from the late Meiji era to the Taisho era, it has moved to the same location as the current location (= west side of Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge).

Look for the ruins of the ferryboat during the Edo period. In the neighborhood map seen on Google Earth, 1 is thought to have been the place where the Edo period ferryboat was located, and GL is the place where the monument is currently installed.

The Tepposu River has been reclaimed, but at present, the area near the ruins of the Tepposu River estuary is around Minato Daiichi Children's Amusement Park (Minato 2-16), and there is a sign board for `` sewer pipes buried '' on the Sumida River revetment. Here is a trace of the river trace. "Shiomi guardian of children and travelers" (right photo) sits next to it. (@AM )
