On September 15, I feel the Sekigahara in Chuo-ku
Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
September 15, 1600 (October 21, 1600 AD) is the day when the battle of Sekigahara (the Western army of anti-Tokugawa forces centered on the Eastern Army and Mitsunari Ishida with Ieyasu Tokugawa as the general) occurred. .
Perhaps next year will be 420 years after the battle between the world, SNS on September 15 was excited in Sekigahara.
I'm a major in World History, taking advantage of the tide of the world, and on September 15, I went around places related to the battle of Sekigahara in Chuo-ku.
Sekigahara x Weapons
It was in 1603 that Ieyasu Tokugawa, who became the conquering general, welcomed British William Adams (Anjin Miura) as a diplomatic adviser.
However, before that, there was an event that could affect the power of the battle of Sekigahara.
That is the confiscation of weapons from the Reefde (the ship of Adams and others who left Rotterdam for the Orient in June 1598).
This is because it is said that the cannon of the cargo of the Leafde was played an active part in the battle of Sekigahara.

According to Prom (see the reference section), Ieyasu, who was believed to have been armed with powerful forces, was particularly interested in whether the ship had weapons.
He explained that Adams was not a pirate ship but a ship that came to build trade relations with Japan, and he did not deny the existence of weapons in addition to the large amount of clothing, ornaments, amber, glass, glasses and bronze candlesticks.
The breakdown of worrisome weapons is matchlock musket 500, cannon bullets 500, double bullets (two bullets are connected to a single chain and used to destroy ship's equipment) 300, gunpowder 5,000 pounds, and matchlock arrow 350.
In a civil war country, it was important to be armed as much as possible, so Ieyasu confiscated these weapons and used them in battle.
There is no stage for the battle of Sekigahara or the place where the Leafde drifted is located in Chuo-ku, but after a little delve into Ieyasu and Adams related to Chuo-ku, I was able to feel Sekigahara.

Sekigahara x Horse
Next, let's feel the Sekigahara from a more Japanese perspective.
I visited Nihonbashibakurocho, where there were many travelers' lodgings and public inns (inns where people who came to Edo for lawsuits and trials stayed) during the Edo period.
It was a town that prospered as a wholesale district along with Yokoyamacho and Horidome-cho from that time.
What is the origin of the name of a town that seems to be related to horses?
①Because the horse market stood and many Hakuro, who buys and treats cattle and horses, lived there.
②Genbei Takagi and Hanshichi Tomita were entrusted with the management of the nearby "Hatsune no Baba".
There seem to be various theories, and "Hatsune no Baba" in the picture below was the only place in Edo where horse sales were allowed.

There is anecdote that during the battle of Sekigahara, there was a series of horses (censorship and exercise of horses before departure) here.
Hatsune's Baba gradually disappeared with the great fire of the Meiryaku era and changes in the times such as Civilization and enlightenment, but the remnants can be seen in the place name Nihonbashibakurocho.

The battle of Sekigahara, which has been handed down more than 400 years and has become the subject of novels and dramas.
Focusing on the samurai who set up a mansion in the ward, it is a topic that spreads a little more, but this time I focused on weapons and horses.
In the Warring States period, it was difficult to grasp the human relationship, such as close traffic and betrayal, and it was difficult to grasp the whole picture, but I studied little by little, and next year I will visit the site of the long-awaited old battlefield with a Sengoku picture scroll in one hand and around it I want to visit♪
