A building designed by Kuma Kengo is coming to the Harumi area!
Hello. I'm a correspondent RIEdel who loves to congratulate and thankful things.
The other day, when I was walking around the Harumi area, I found a mysterious building with a lot of wooden panels used for structural materials. When I went around Harumi-dori St. to see the architectural plan, I found the letters of the Kuma Kengo office! Hey! Everyone, a Kuma Kengo-designed building is finally coming to the Harumi area!
CLT Harumi Project - The Tokyo Olympics event facility is under acclaim.
This mysterious building is actually an event facility for the Tokyo Olympics.
Combining CLT (Cross Laminated Timber, orthogonal glued plate) panels from Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, three buildings, including a pavilion building, an indoor exhibition building, and an exhibition annex, are about to be built. Each building will include amusement facilities for children, video displays, cafes, etc. The Harumi area, which has an athlete village, is likely to be even more exciting for the Olympics in the future.♪
What surprised me when I saw the architectural plan again was the short construction period. Construction starts on June 1, 2019, scheduled to be completed on September 20, 2019! Oh, can you do it in less than 4 months?
According to research, CLT is a surface material in which wood fibers are stacked in an orthogonal direction and integrated with adhesives, and since the panel itself is manufactured at the factory, there is no need to dry like reinforced concrete (RC), only tighten the bolts at the construction site and assemble it. Well, that's why it will be completed in such a short period of time.
After the Olympics, go to the National Park Hiruzen

It is said that this facility will be dismantled after the Olympics, relocated to Hiruzen, a national park in Maniwa City, and will be newly used as a base for transmitting tourism, arts and culture.
After finishing his role in the big city, Chuo-ku, his second life (Kisei?) A figure of spending time in the rich natural scenery of his hometown…。 I wanted to see it with my own eyes.
