・・・ How do you always make Wajima lacquerware?

"Originally, I make a bowl of wood.

All the works I made this time are lacquered by myself, but Wajima is a division of labor system, so if there are people who make such wood, there are people who paint lacquer, and there are people who draw patterns like this There are different people.

This was Wajima's way, but for this time, I did everything myself.

It is the 4th generation of Wakiji. It's a house that has been living in the bowl wood industry for generations.

It's been about 15 years since I started working.

After graduating from high school, the place called Yamanaka Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture is a famous place in Wakiji, but I trained there for four years.

And I came back to the house in Oisecho, Wajima City, and took over the family business.

It's not a shop, but a factory.

I think it would be better to sell face-to-face in this way.

You can see the customer's face.

If you bring lacquerware, you can also see the lightness.

lacquer is hard to get on, but it's not too much care and it's actually easy to handle if you don't put it in a dishwasher.

It is good to wash it with a neutral detergent and wipe it quickly.

You can also repair it. We also handle repainting. You can fix it even if it breaks.

It's actually a vessel that lasts for decades, lacquerware."

Ramen bowl 27,000 yen

This is the first image.

It is also the same ramen bowl that Mr. Tsuji holds. )

A bowl made to eat instant ramen.

Trees are perfect for eating ramen because heat is less transmitted than pottery.

This product is light for the size, and is easy to hold.

If you look closely at the first image, there is a blue glowing grain at the bottom of the inner surface.

It's very beautiful because the opal has been sharpened.

The outer surface is painted black and wiping lacquer.

"This ramen bowl takes more than 8 months for a total of 8 months, including half a year of bowl wood, drying and painting for 2-3 months.

If you want to make something solid, it will take about a year.

If you think about only one, it feels long, but I'm doing various things at the same time. "

I don't usually paint (specialize in bowling wood)."

Next is an interview with Yaemon.

・・・ You are doing "Nushiya".

"When making a single product, it's a painter's shop.

There is a craftsman for each process, and first of all, what was made from the state of the wood (by the wood craftsman), there is a base craftsman, there is a top coater, and there is a polishing craftsman who says "roiro" There is, and finally there is a technique called Makie or Chinkin, but the decoration is made.

I'll produce this.

Our lacquer ware shop (Yaemon lacquer ware shop) itself was founded in 1868, so it's about 160 years old, but since I was 37 years old and temporarily returned to Wajima, it's about 6 years old. "

・・You also have a gallery in Wajima.

"It's a gallery that opened a shop called 'KALPA' on Wajima Asaichi Street and also served as a cafe."

・・Thank you very much, Mr. Yaemon.

Several craftsmen are involved between the production of wood and the overcoating, and the number of processes is as many as 130.

Among them, the final process of painting is overcoating.

If even one grain is dusted, it will not be finished beautifully, so it will be a very nervous task.

In addition to typical vermilion and black, craftsmen combine it, and such expressions are possible.

At the end of the basic process of Wajima lacquering, it is finished with a tortoiseshell-like texture.

A craftsman called Roiroshi carefully polishes it using the palms to create a deep shine unique to lacquer.

Diatomaceous earth, which is the material of "Wajima flour", is a layer of soil formed by sedimentation of plankton under the seafloor.

There are countless small holes in the grains of the ground, where lacquer penetrates into it and becomes stronger.

This bowl is coated several times with base lacquer that is adjusted while adjusting the particles of the ground powder.

It is said that Japanese people are very sensitive to color.

There are many traditional colors found in nature.

Because it is an environment where it is difficult to feel the changes in nature nearby, the colors of these bowls may look fresh.

One of the characteristics of coloring is that it has a low thermal conductivity.

For this reason, it has the advantage that warm things can stay warm and cold ones can stay cool.

Also, when you hold the vessel in your hand, you don't mean it's hot and cannot hold it.

This vessel is suitable for Japanese eating habits where you hold a bowl in your hand and put it on your lips to eat.

It is a precautions for washing the coloring, but use a neutral detergent for the detergent and remove the dirt with a sponge or soft cloth.

After washing, wipe off the water with a dry cloth.

Be careful as wiping leaks can cause the water to accumulate.
