Calling at Harumi, a large sailboat in Chile
On October 22, the world's largest sailing ship, Esmeralda, with a Chilean Navy training boat, entered Harumi Wharf on the way of the practice sea. It is scheduled to leave on the 26th and will be open to the public from 10:30 to 16:30 on Friday the 25th.
Embassy floating white lady
Esmeralda was built at a Spanish shipyard in 1954. It is called "white lady" because of its white hull, sail and elegant boat shape, and attracts sailing ship fans around the world. In addition, it has called at more than 300 ports and is also called the "floating embassy". Recently, I came to Harumi in 2016. The public day on the 22nd was rainy, but it rained in the evening, and many visitors including parents and children came. Officers and sailors were also very friendly and responded to commemorative photos.
It seems that this was originally a bow statue to pray for the safety of the voyage. It's gone from a modern ship. By the way, it seems that Esmeralda is a condor and a Chilean national bird.
I think it's my third time to ride the Esmeralda that came to Harumi. When I was in elementary school, I remember the first time I came to see my father. I'm deeply moved by the fact that I've grown each other more than 40 years since then.
At night, the illuminations are lit and beautiful
At 5:00 in the evening, Chilean national anthem and Kimigayo flowed, and the flags of both countries listed on the mast were lowered and illuminated.
On the way back, when I entered the passenger terminal, the crew who changed into plain clothes was a vending machine? In front of it. If you think about something, it's a foreign currency exchange machine. Once again, I felt that this is an international terminal.
Foreign warships, sailing ships, and cruise ships often call at Harumi Wharf, so if you like ships, check it out. Then, every year in early November, the Antarctic observation ship departs from Harumi.
