Friends of the therapy dog tiloli in Chuo-ku
Hello, this is Minato kid.
Last time, I introduced Japan's first therapy dog "Tyori", with a bronze statue at Tsukiji River Ginza Park.
Toru Oki, the representative of the International Therapy Dog Association (Nihonbashi Ningyocho), who is the parent of the Great East Japan Earthquake, is engaged in activities to rescue dogs that are about to kill and to raise them into therapy dogs.
This time, I would like to introduce a book written by Toru Oki, entitled "Dogs in the Affected Area Aiming for a Therapy Dog that Connects Life" (Iwasaki Shoten published in 2012).
♪ SOS from dogs in Fukushima!
Fukushima nuclear accident following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. There were dogs that had lost their owners and dogs that were left in time for refuge's acceptance system. Nobody would have wanted to leave a member of an important family. In warned area alone, there are 5,800 registered dogs.
There was a dog wandering in the town where no one was gone, looking for the owner. Dogs who think that the owner is riding a bus that workers who are recovering from the nuclear power plant are riding and chasing forever. I wonder how thin it was.
One day, Toru Oki was contacted and rushed to Fukushima. There were two protected dogs there. It was thin and I couldn't walk. Mr. Toru Oki has decided to pick up these two.
After that, every time I received a message saying, "Some dogs are likely to be killed!" Toru Oki rushed in while wearing clothes. Every dog was wounded in the mind and body and fought against fear. It was a dog rescue day, like a baton relay with a local volunteer.
It's an event in a small dog detention house in the mountains.
When Toru Oki tried to return home by putting the dogs that were on the verge of slaughter on the car, the words of the dog detention house said that Toru Oki would not forget.
"I'm sorry ..."
― I looked straight at my eyes, and said: She has a relaxed look. There is no doubt that this person, who is doing the slaughter alone, will not be hard.―
(From Iwasaki Shoten by Toru Oki, "Connecting Life")
From this scene, anger for a society where the mechanism of slaughter has not yet disappeared, regrets that cannot be done by one person, sadness that cannot be spoken, and prayers that he does not want to sacrifice animal life any more It seems to be approaching.
And what Toru Oki's goal is to "eliminate killings."
♪ 14 new friends
In this way, the 14 affected dogs rescued by Toru Oki became a new team and began training to become therapy dogs.
The leader "Hinomaru" is a hybrid of Shiba Inu. Next is the black hair "Kizuna". After the earthquake, "Fuku" and "Good" were born in the mountains. "Kinji" and "Ginji" were born as the same wild dog. "Musashi" has worked hard even if he lost one leg in the mountains.
A leisurely grandfather dog "Tyrota". The white terrier "Kozakura". The second one, Yamato. Everyone's charms "Kome Grandma" and "Yu". "Akihime" is full of charm. "Kantaro" can't stand against headwinds.
Two months after the earthquake, three of them headed to the affected areas with their senior therapy dogs. The people of refuge were very pleased. There was a photo of the Hinomaru and Kizuna being held by a grandmother living in refuge.
The grandmother was taking care of the hair of the bond's head. I was terrified. He cares for the dog who came as a therapy dog. You may have remembered the dog you had. I don't think I've always done that way.
I wondered if the therapy is not something that can be given by either side, but something like a "security" that is born between people and dogs when they meet each other. That's why dogs are sure to be happy to interact with others. When I saw this photo, I felt relieved.
The presence of the therapy dogs, who were trained and returned in a distant place, was a bright hope for the people of refuge.
In the book, there are photos of each therapy dog, and the appearance of being protected, innocent face, and daily events trained as a therapy dog are drawn with Toru Oki's gentle gaze. I am.
Tylori will be pleased to see it from the sky, and that his juniors are growing up robustly.
