Beautiful pigeon clock in the black forest @ Nihonbashi Yokoyama-cho

Nihonbashi Yokoyama-cho: I went to a shop called "Mori no Clock", a German pigeon watch studio and Karakuri pigeon watch specialty store in the middle of the wholesale district. About six months ago, it was introduced in "Matsuko's Unknown World", so many people may know it.

This shop is the first in Japan to join the German Pigeon Watch Association (verein die Schwarzwalduhr: literally translated the Schwart Clock Association, that is, the Black Forest Clock Association). Why is the "Black Forest Clock" a "dove clock" because the Schwartz Walt region (*) seems to be the birthplace of pigeon watches in the world.

This time, we had a little connection, and we decided to give a watch from this shop to an acquaintance's wedding celebration.

Originally, I didn't intend to cover just shopping, but the story of President Serizawa who came to the shop was interesting in various ways, so I decided to introduce it a little after obtaining permission.

I went without preparation for the interview, so I didn't even have a writing instrument, so I borrowed a pen and paper to cover it. 。 First of all, thank you.

※A region rich in nature in southwest Germany. It is also famous for its headquarters in Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

The inside of the store is a dove clock forest

The shop is located on the 4th floor of the building, so you can't see it from outside the building, but the moment you get off the elevator, you'll be caught by the dove clocks lined up all over the wall of the store.

Watches are the image of industrial products, but the watches lined up here are, of course, precision equipment, but they can only be considered elaborate crafts rather than industrial products.

That should be the case, all the exterior parts of the watch are handmade. Some of them are even hand-painted. It looks similar, and each one has its own personality.

And the tone is healed again. The video below shows the sound of the company's products on youtube. (5648mayu UP) (Of course it produces sound.) Be careful.)

・・・ In this video, when a pigeon came out of the window and seemed to sound like "poppo", it was bound by a curse named "dove clock" (laughs). Actually, I did it (laughs).

If you watch without prejudice, no matter how you listen, "cuckoo" sounds "cook-"? Yes, not only in Germany, but also worldwide, "Cuckoo clock" is normal, and "dove clock" is a unique way of saying in Japan. In Japan, the cuckoo is also known as "Kankotori". Then he became a pigeon, a symbol of peace, because he had bad luck.

Street organ

In addition to the clock, there are also interesting things in the store. German-made teddy bears also attracted attention, but what was suddenly attracted to the street organ (hand-held organ) shown with President Serizawa.

The president himself demonstrated, but it was a fun melody and gentle sound that would make me want to dance unintentionally.♪

It's difficult to express in writing, so I've picked up the same DELEIKA street organ performance scene from youtube again, so please listen to it. (Rokko Music Box Museum UP. Of course, there is also a sound. Be careful.

If you demonstrate at events, etc., it seems that there will be an outstanding customer attraction effect. In fact, this organ is not for sale, but is rented out to various events and has been well received.

By the way, the street organ had a slightly antique image, but it was completely wrong. It seems that there are still strong fans, and it seems that DELEIKA is launching new products.

2 types of pigeon watches

Two types of dove clocks Beautiful dove clocks in black forest @ Nihonbashi Yokoyama-cho

Even a dove clock with a similar appearance, it seems that it is divided into two types of dove watches when viewed by mechanism.

One is battery-powered. It adopts a quartz movement and allows you to play as many as 12 digitally recorded melodies. The cuckoo's cry is also a real recording. The above youtube video will also be this one.

And the other is a hand-rolling type. It is a phenomenal analog precision instrument that rotates the gear with the gravity of the weight hanging on the clock and moves the time signal and music box of the mechanical cuckoo. In the past, this was the only one.

There are two types of products: one-day roll and eight-day roll. If you have an eight-day roll with a music box, you can use a chain of 160 cm long and three 1.5 kg weights. I was able to touch something in the shop a little, but it was a tremendous weight. By the way, the battery type has a short chain and weight, but it was said that it was for decoration.

This time, I purchased a battery-powered one, but I admire a room and life that looks good with a hand-rolled clock ... (^^)

Introduction of shops

Introduction of shops Beautiful dove clock in black forest @Nihonbashi Yokoyama-cho

I was distracted by the dove clock itself, and the introduction of the shop was the last.

Did you start with a mistake?

The reason why President Serizawa became interested in pigeon watches was that he was surprised to see a pigeon clock again at a German airport when he traveled to Europe. After that, I became more and more interested in homestays that also served as a tour of the dove clock studio, and on my way home, when I said, "I want to spread dove clocks in Japan someday." (Laughs), he said, "Which do you buy and return?"

So, Mr. Serizawa's personality is that he doesn't refuse to say "it's wrong." Since the cash was running low, it seems that it began to buy three cars with a credit card for the time being, return to Japan and sell hard.

To clock master

After that, for a while, he studied pigeon watches almost self-taught while working at an imported general store, etc., and was able to repair "marvel analog precision equipment". Finally, in 2010, we opened a dove clock specialty store "Mori no Clock", and now we have grown to have partner shops and department store sales outlets all over the country.

It's not just a purchase sale, it's a wonderful shop that combines a deep understanding and affection for the dove clock itself, and maintenance technology. Please come and visit us. As you can see in the photo above, it seems that not only "repair", but also partial customization such as changing dials and installing plates can be done.

In addition, here is the official website of the Forest Clock, which explains the history of pigeon watches in detail. It's also an online shop.
