Chuo-ku Traveling by Map

At this time when I couldn't go out much during summer vacation, there were places and history that I didn't know in Chuo-ku, so I decided to look for maps and books. I visited the map specialty store "Buyodo" in Nihonbashi. This is a shop that was previously introduced on the blog of Mr.

This company was established in 2007, inheriting the publishing and bookstore sales department of Takeyodo Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1897.

There are everything related to maps, such as books, map calendars, road maps, duplicates of the Edo period "Ino map", old maps, imported overseas maps and domestic and foreign guidebooks, mountains and plateau maps, etc. They also produce tailor-made maps, framed kakejiku, and panel sticks.

Nihonbashi on that day

Chuo-ku, traveling on the Nihonbashi map of that day

This is a map book published by our company. From the origin of Nihonbashi to the present, it contains valuable photographs and maps, especially from the 1950s to the 1930s, including the reconstruction from the Great Kanto Earthquake and the war damage. Looking at the photos, you can see at a glance the situation at that time, and I think again the importance of keeping records along with sentences. In this series, there are other "Ginza" and "Asakusa".

Recommended for walking around the city

Chuo-ku, which travels on a map recommended for walking around the city

When you use the library, you will go to the corner of the city walking book. From there, search for Tokyo and find Chuo-ku, usually 3 or 4 books. (There are many libraries in Chuo-ku, but if you live in Funabashi City, you can't borrow them.) This corner of "Buyodo" is full of city walking books in Chuo-ku.

I picked up the "Oedo with Old Maps" Osanpo Map (a business Japanese company)

Nihonbashi: Merchant Town, Yaesu / Sukiya Bridge ... magistrate's office, Kodemmacho ... prison, Ishikawajima ... People's Ashoro, Ryogokubashi ... entertainment district

The remnants of the city of Edo are explained in an easy-to-understand manner, and you want to follow while looking at the map.

Fun map goods

There are also fun goods such as corners for children, stationery, handkerchiefs and drawstrings. When I looked at the globe of paper balloons, puzzles of world maps, clips of map symbols, one by one, I was almost unable to return.

Maps that are no longer needed are also turned into memo paper. One side is map, one side is blank, bound to B6 size. Notepad that I wanted since I was introduced in "Ad Street" before, is still 100 yen.

It was a moment when I was completely lost in search of a map. Why don't you go out to Takarajima on the map?
