[Nihonbashimuromachi] OGGI (Oggi), a gem of Western confectionery that breathes the thoughts of the founder, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store

Do you like chocolate? Today is a wonderful shop that I would like to recommend for adults who love chocolate.

A little cherry-blossom viewing before that.

The photo shows the cherry blossoms of Meguro River. It has become popular year by year as a famous cherry blossom spot in Tokyo, and now it has come to sightseeing buses. The crowds at peak times require traffic control.

On the banks of the Meguro River, there is a Western confectionery shop called OGGI (Oggi).
The founder was born in a temple, studied Western painting from junior high school, studied microbial fermentation and enzymes at a university, and after graduating, worked at a brewing laboratory to grade sake. This time, I would like to introduce the appeal of OGGI along with 2 specialty items.

OGGI's synonymous "Chocolade Chocolat"

Even though it is a firmly baked cake, it is a mouthfeel as if you were eating chocolate itself. Chocolate de chocolate is an adult dessert that enjoys the flavor of pepper and cinnamon and the lingering of the deep aroma of cacao. The recipe, which is complicatedly assembled by a founder with experience as a sake brewer, is the only one that has been completed many prototypes. If you taste it like you love one mouth, you can feel the spice lurking in the crisp sweetness.

Of course, it is not only a reward for yourself, but the most recommended thing is to use it as a gift. Since it is a baked confectionery, it can be stored at room temperature, has a long shelf life, and there is little concern about loss of mold, so it is always a reliable souvenir to distant places that are difficult to hand immediately after purchase. In addition to having a head office in Meguro, Tokyo, and opening stores in Tokyo, the rare feeling of only Chiba Prefecture (Kashiwa / Funabashi) and Miyagi Prefecture (Sendai) may be appreciated by those who give it.

"Orange Peel" falls in love in an instant

This orange peel is made from carefully cut materials one by one to the extreme softness. Couverture chocolate gently wraps the vivid fragrance of Valencia orange that scorchs your chest. Contrary to the matte expression, surprisingly juicy. I was caught up in a moment. This is also perfect for adult gifts and goes well with alcohol.

OGGI and Chuo-ku

You can also get OGGI sweets in Chuo-ku.
The location is the first basement floor of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store. We have a lineup that is almost the same as the Meguro main store.

The brand color of OGGI, which is neither blue nor purple, is inspired by the late founder Mami Matsutokesa, who grew up in temples and became familiar with painting since he wasBuddhist monk's time. I feel like I've found a reason for myself who likes silence and calmness.

Mr. Shoto changed jobs from the sake brewing laboratory to a biscuit manufacturing company, and after studying Western confectionery manufacturing techniques, he became independent. And in 1978, the couple opened a coffee shop with the same name in the city of Ginza. The coffee shop eventually turned into a confectionery shop, moved its head office to Meguro, and it continues to this day, but its origin was in Chuo-ku. I would like to recommend it with confidence as "Chuo-ku souvenirs recommended by correspondents." It may be some reason that the only OGGI in Chuo-ku is right next to the stunning row of cherry blossom trees (Edo Sakura-dori St.), just like the Meguro Main Store.
