[Ningyocho] Taiwan Taroimo Sweets specialty store "Renchin"
This time, I would like to introduce the sweets shop that came from Keelung, Taiwan. First of all, I would like to talk about the town of Kitaka, where the shop was born.
What kind of place is Kanda?
Keelung is a port city located in the northern part of Taiwan where a variety of ships are always berthed in the harbor.
When I visited before, a taxi driver pointed to the cruise ship and told me, "It's a ship going to Japan."
It takes about 40 minutes by train or bus from Taipei, the first city of Taiwan, and you can enjoy the atmosphere of the port town on a day trip. It's like Yokohama seen from Tokyo.
Keystone / Keelung Sign
It looks like a Hollywood sign. The letter sign of Kitaka is shining, and it seems that the lighting has been completely renovated this year.
Cafés with a view of the harbor gather around the ocean square, and in the downtown area, when the sun goes down, the Mausoleum Night Market, known as a gastronomy Night Market, is opened. Kitaka is a town rich in travel, where you can forget your time and spend a relaxing time.
And last year, there is a shop that came to Chuo-ku all the way from this Takataka.
100 years long-established Taiwan, first landing in Japan!
In December 2021, a new shop opened in amazake Yokocho, Nihonbashi Ningyocho. It is Renchin, a Taiwan Taroimo Sweets specialty store.
Renjin is a long-established pastry (mochi / gaobin) that has been in Kitaka for more than 100 years, and has landed in Japan for the first time.
Renjin Mochi Store (Nai-ku, Kitaka City)
Taroimo (taro) is a taro family sweet potato grown in warm regions around the world. In Taiwan, I often saw it used for bun bean paste and dumplings. Even in the ever-summer island of Hawaii, it is an indispensable ingredient for cooking and dessert, and in Japan it is not very familiar with Taroimo, many people may know Taroimo chips, a standard Hawaii souvenir.
Then I would like to taste the Taiwan Taroimo sweets I got in Ningyocho.
My beloved Taiwan yam head, sweeping!
Even if you can't pronounce, it's a Taiwanese word that conveys the meaning somehow.
It was in a stylish package. It's perfect for souvenirs.
900 yen including tax containing 6 taro ball (potato mud ball)
It is a rare signboard product that is finished in a moderate balance with butter and sugar while keeping the taste of taro. I make it every morning at the shop.
Slight sweetness and crumbling texture in smoothness. That taste I ate at Keryu. The taro ball in Ningyocho had a neat round shape.
Here's the next one.
380 yen including taroimo cream puff tax
I wrapped the taro ball in Shoo skin. It's like taroimo sweets that can be eaten in your hand.
Please look inside. It's this if there's no chance. Since it is sold from one piece, how about it as an introductory version of Taroimo?
Taroimo with a simple and gentle taste with some nostalgia. The image of Ningyocho, which expresses the traditional confectionery in a modern design, overlapped with the city of Kitaka, which has an urban yet nostalgic atmosphere. Now I can't easily go to Taiwan to play, so I'm very happy to meet Taiwan Taroimo Sweets in Chuo-ku. Everyone, please try it.
