A little worrisome building @ Harumi
I was a little worried about what the athlete village of the Tokyo 2020 Games is now, and the other day, I went to Harumi from the usual jogging course Sumida River.
From the athlete village to the new city "HARUMI FLAG"
In the Tokyo 2020 Games Athlete Village, it seems that the transformation to a new city called "HARUMI FLAG" is progressing smoothly. It is expected that occupancy will start sequentially from the end of March 2024, and when the newly constructed twin tower apartment (scheduled to be completed in September 2025), a total of 24 buildings and a total of 5,632 units (4,145 units for sale + 1,487 units for rent), a city where about 12,000 people live.
According to the website of HARUMI FLAG, a mountain-like skyline was formed without buildings of the same height, with the aim of creating a new landscape in Tokyo Bay. In addition, dynamic symmetry with gentle asymmetry and design relays (sharing design elements such as colors and segmentation between blocks and adjacent buildings) create a sense of unity as a city with a varied cityscape. I want to see the completed form as a group of buildings as soon as possible, as well as each and every building.
In this major project, 25 up-and-coming Japanese designers collaborated. Mr. Jun Mitsui has been appointed as the master architect to oversee the overall design. By the way, the design of the "V88 Building (former De Beers Ginza Building)" featured in the blog article "Building a little worrisome @ Ginza Marronnier Street (June 2022)" was by Jun Mitsui.

Renewed the training site “L stay & grow Harumi”
The hotel "L stay & grow Harumi" is a building with a very unique design that looks like a lot of CRT TVs (or gameboys) attached at Harumi 3-chome. Designed by Tsune Kaminami, who worked on a number of telecommunications buildings (postal, telegraph, and telephone business facilities). I've been worried about the existence of this building for a long time, so this time I visited Naoto Kameda, the general manager of "L stay & grow Harumi", and interviewed him.
Originally, it was a hotel building called Den Harumi, completed in 1975 (Showa 50), owned and operated by Recruit Cosmos (now Cosmos Insia). After being renamed the Harumi Grand Hotel, Karakami Kanko (now Karakami HOTELS &RESORTS) acquired it and operated by Max Part, a subsidiary of its subsidiary. In 2018, it was renamed "Hotel Fukura Shea Harumi" and closed once in March 2021, but in June 2022, it seems that it was reopened as a hotel under the "L stay & grow" brand, a training hotel specializing in training at Yamato Life Next (Operation has been continued, Max Part).
At the time of the interview, I showed you the guest room. The characteristic square window of the bay window is a type that can be opened by pressing the lower side, and opens about 10 cm. Air conditioning equipment is built-in at the bottom of the bay window for individual air conditioning. A total of 206 rooms are more than 24 square meters, so it feels like a one-room apartment.
Actually, as I remembered during this interview, I had been trained at this hotel during the days of "Den Harumi". Suddenly I felt nostalgic, and for some reason I wanted to get training here again.
