At 3:00 pm on December 18th, the Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel (1.4 km) connecting Tsukiji and Shimbashi will be fully opened. As a result, all of the Loop Route 2, which has a total length of about 14 km, will be opened from Ariake, Koto-ku to Kanda Sakuma-cho, Chiyoda-ku.

On December 10, a "walking event" will be held for those living, attending school, and working in Tokyo. According to Governor Koike, it is "the first and last chance to walk through this tunnel." The application will start on November 1st.

With this opening, Tokyo BRT, which connects Harumi to Shimbashi in about 18 minutes, can avoid traffic congestion in front of the old fruit and vegetable gates, so time can be expected to be reduced.

However, the provisional road next to Hamarikyu may be removed by this opening. In "Gurutto Tsukiji Ohashi Walking" I wrote in April 2022, this temporary road is introduced as an "urban oasis".

In any case, it's nice news because the access to the Gulf area and the city center will be greatly improved.
