Imada Shoten, a long-established liquor store that has been running for four generations in Shinkawa for 100 years.
"New River" is a correspondent starting from "Shinkawa".
Speaking of Shinkawa, it is still "sake". The second blog was followed by the first (about the sake wholesaler town "Shinkawa"-Ask President Kashimaya-), followed by the theme of sake, a long-established liquor store that has been running for four generations in Shinkawa for 100 years. We interviewed Imada Shoten, the fourth generation, Takeo Imada, and his father's third generation, Shozo Imada, about various things.
History of Imada Shoten
In 1923, after the Great Kanto Earthquake, my grandfather, Kinzo Imada, was founded in his current location, and this year has been just 100 years. At that time, Kinzo's sister of Imada Shuzo, who was making Tomihisa Cho (Fukucho) in Akitsucho, Hiroshima Prefecture, married sake brewery (Nakao Brewery), who was making Seikyo, and sold through Yoneya.
After the Great Kanto Earthquake, I think he built a small house at a frontage and started business. And since then, we have been doing business here all the time (incorporated in 1950). The current building was rebuilt in 1996. The house is located on the store, and the vacant floor is rented. (Third generation)

What does it mean to sell alcohol? (Mission)
As I wrote on the website, through sake, I would like to connect the cities and regions, modern life and cultural history, the passion of producers and the support of consumers, and the fun of everyday life to energize. You. I hope that by delivering sake brewery's strong passion rooted in tradition, you will be able to help enrich your everyday life. (Fourth generation)
What are the products?
We sell a variety of alcohols, mainly Hiroshima brands (currently about 12 types). Nowadays, more alcohol is not available in Tokyo by direct transactions than in wholesaler distribution. In particular, "Tomihisa Cho" is a liquor made by our head family (Imada Sake Brewery Main Store), so we are particular about it. (Fourth generation)
※“New River” Note
By the way, if you cross the Minato Bridge over the Nihonbashi River, turn right and go down along the Nihonbashi River, you will find Takao Inari Shrine (10-7, Nihonbashi-Hakozakicho) on your left, but what is the Chozubachi of the shrine? I would like to introduce the story (secluded story) in the next blog.
Chozubachi of Takao Inari Shrine
What kind of person is "Miho Imada"?
Miho Imada, president of Imada Sake Brewery Main Store and also serving as Toji, revives the roots of Hachitan sake rice representing Hiroshima Prefecture, such as "Hatanso" (Hatannishiki" and "Hatan No. 35"). And created "Tomihisa Cho", and the slogan "Hyakushu Senkai (Hyakushi no Senbokushi no Senkai)" ("Akisen method left invention" from Miura". "Tomihisa Cho" inherits the passion of Doona) and continues to challenge it.
Miho also said, "Campai! Appeared in "Women in Love with Sake" (a sake documentary film released in 2019), and was selected as the only Japanese in 2020 as one of the "100 women" who influenced the world announced by the BBC every year!
Miho is a very aggressive person, and he has been actively exporting overseas since he wasn't doing it at that time. At first, I left school and worked for a department store, but after that I took over my parents' house. In the past, women were not allowed to enter sake brewery, and much less likely to become a brewer, so I think it may be a pioneer in women's brewer. (Third generation)

※“New River” Note
Sensaburo Miura started sake brewing in 1876 and did not go well at first, but one day, when a Fushimi sake brewery was invited to the local area and a lecture was held, the sake brewery first said that sake brewing is the first thing to be careful, and soft water is suitable for general drinking water, but it is not suitable for sake brewing. He heard for the first time that he uses sake brewing. (From the Akizu Town Tourism Association website)
I would like PR of the shop!
Through alcohol and Tsunouchi Chi, it is a place to create connections between people so that people can think that it was good to live in this area, good to start living, good to work, good to come to Shinkawa I want to be. What we can do to do through alcohol. It conveys Mr. Kuramoto's feelings. If you just line up, it is only a product, so I would like to tell you what kind of people are making it and what kind of feeling they are making it.
In the past, Kakuuchi used to be able to drink cheaply with canned beer and canned food on the way home from work, but we put delicious sake and tidbits in order to get them to know good sake properly. So, rather than Tsunouchi Chi, it may be easier for young people to have a liquor store that can drink a little bit more easily.
In addition, the inside of the store is quite large, so we are challenging what ordinary liquor stores can't do. To be specific, we do not have a fixed product shelf inside the store, but have a mobile shelf P box (a box for plastic transport), and when we hold events such as sake events and liquor stores, we go outside and create a venue.
The store is planned to be renovated in mid-June and will be closed for about a week. It's been almost 30 years since I bought the refrigerator, so I'm going to add some other places little by little while replacing it with a new one. I can't do it without such an opportunity, so it's a feeling that it's okay to be an event commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding. Rather than having a big event, I hope to be able to renew my feelings by renewing the store. (Fourth generation)
The signs of "Tomihisa Cho" and "Seikyo" on the left and right are old and valuable things that Mr. Kuramoto has never seen. The sign of "Imada Shoten" in the middle is my grandfather's character. (Fourth generation)

The following:
I purchased "Tomihisa Cho" from Yatakusa and Yamada Nishiki for GW and had it at home. In each case, the balance between plump sweetness and acidity was wonderful, and I was surprised that the fresh foaming feeling remained even though it was burning.
The next day, in search of more delicious sake, we visited Imada Shoten's Tsunouchi Chi, met with customers who met for the first time, and enjoyed the night of Shinkawa. Imada Shoten was a place to create a connection between people through sake and Tsunouchi! Also, if I had the opportunity, I would like to go to the Honke's Imada Sake Brewery Main Store.
