Chuo-ku, which can be seen from "Edo Famous Zoukai"
Shinohashi Three Schools (Mitsumata)

"It is located downstream from Shinohashi Ryogoku Bridge, and from Hamacho to Fukagawa Rokumabori. It's about one hundred eight hours long. This bridge is Genroku 6th year's Water Rooster [1693], the first time I did this. The old name of Ryogoku Bridge is Ohashi. By his name, he will be called Shinohashi. Near the present Nakasu

Mitsumata, Chuo-ku, which can be seen from the current "Edo Famous Zoukai" near Nakasu.

This photo was taken in June 2023 of Nakasu, which was depicted in the Edo Famous Zoukai. First of all, Nakasu Park, Chuo-ku, is a place where the green opposite Sumida River is dark. It is the elevated of the Metropolitan Expressway Mukaijima Line that enters as if being sucked into the green. In the past, the Hakozaki River flowed under it. If you look at the left side of the photo, you can see the Kiyosu Bridge (blue) modeled on the suspension bridge in Cologne, Germany, the high-speed part of the Sumida River Ohashi Bridge (white), and the Eitai Bridge (light blue) behind it, the support of Chuo-ohashi Bridge (white), and the skyscrapers of River City 21 at the back. Once again, I will try to sort out the historical facts.

1693 Shinohashi Bridge (slightly downstream from current location)

1698 Eitai Bridge Bridge (about 150m upstream from the current location)

1928 Kiyosu Bridge Bridge

1979 Sumida River Ohashi Bridge

Construction of River City 21 in 1986

1993 Chuo-ohashi Bridge Bridge

What is important here is that the bridge location between Shinohashi and Eitai Bridge is different from the current location. In the picture, two bridges, Shinohashi and Eitai Bridge, are depicted. So this time, I took a picture downstream from the current Shinohashi. In the Edo period, there were no Kiyosu Bridge, Sumida River Ohashi Bridge, or Chuo-ohashi Bridge. Of course, River City 21 has not been built. However, Eitai Bridge is still in existence. Considering that it is 150m upstream from now, I think that the picture and the photo will be consistent.

Three schools (Mitsumata)

Mitsumata, Chuo-ku, which can be seen from the three schools (Mitsumata) "Edo Famous Zoukai".

"It refers to the branch under Shinohashi, the three schools. It is a place where the flow between the Asakusa River and Hakozaki is separated and flowed (this place is separated from the tide and water, and it is Koyufu Nifu). Recently, it has become a famous place of the moon (by the way, Meiwa 8th year Shinu [1771], buried the middle stream and became a person, and called Nakasu. However, in the event of a flood, the news came to the year of Kansei Gen Rooster [1789], and also digs the river like the original). " "Three schools" and "Edo Famous Zoukai" from the Digital Collection of the National Diet Library

It is written in "Edo Famous Zoukai", but later it was reclaimed in 1886 (1886) and called Nakasucho. Speaking of Nakasu, one must not forget is Masago-za, which opened in 1893 (1893). However, transportation was not good and customers were far away, and the business was closed in 1917 (1917). The prosperity of Nakasu's Hanayanagi Street did not last for a long time. Then, in 1971 (1971), the Hakozaki River, which had flowed at the border between Hamacho and Hakozaki-cho, was reclaimed and connected to land. Today's Nakasu is a quiet apartment town.

The support of the sailing ship and River City 21

Finally, I felt by comparing pictures with pictures, and I would like to write about that and finish this blog. I didn't feel as if the support of the sailing boat drawn after the picture Eitai Bridge was foreseeing the skyscraper of River City 21 after Eitai Bridge in the photo.
