Genealogy of the Siebold family connected to Mr. Tadasou Sekiguchi

I've been doing the genealogy of the Siebold family that leads to Tadasou Sekiguchi! Book Forest Chuo Siebold's 200th Anniversary Lecture "Siebolt Father and Son Density Talked by descendants"

Tadasou Sekiguchi is a descendant of Siebold's second son, Heinrich Siebold. While starting a business as a student and serving as an advisor to numerous companies as a consultant, he helped his father and researcher Tadashi Sekiguchi, and established the Japan Siebold Association, mainly by Siebold researcher, 100 years after the death of Siebold, Heinrich, in 2008.

Let's go back to history based on Mr. Sekiguchi's explanation. It's a bit complicated, but please do your best to follow me (laughs). ※Click here for detailed genealogy.

Siebold gets married to Taki after coming to Japan and has a child (rice), but after that he is deported and married Helene after returning to Japan. The third son and two daughters were born between Helene and the eldest son was "Alexander", and the second son was Heinrich. Mr. Sekiguchi is the descendant of his second son Heinrich.

Alexander came to Japan for the first time at the age of 12 on Siebold's first return to Japan in 30 years (1859). After serving as an interpreter for the British Embassy in Japan at the end of the Tokugawa period, he became a special secretary of Foreign Minister Kaoru Inoue in the Meiji era. You have also appeared in Taiga drama series's "Saigo Don" and "Watch the Blue Sky".

Heinrich accompanied his brother Alexander's return to Japan and made his first visit to Japan at the age of 18 in 1869 (Meiji 2). Alexander had returned to Europe temporarily with the Akitake Tokugawa Mission, which was sent to the Paris Expo in 1867. At the Vienna World Exposition (1873), where Japan became the first official participation as a central government, he was involved in the selection of exhibitions with his brother at the request of the government, and also worked as an interpreter. The Japan Pavilion, in which the Siebold brothers were involved, was a great success every day, and was successful. This was also depicted in "Push the blue sky."

Heinrich, like his brother, also helped diplomacy between Japan and other countries, but like his father Siebold, he likes research and research, and has a deep knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and antiques (olds). I also interacted with Japanese good old houses. ※At that time, there was no word archeology yet. Japanese good old houses interact with Heinrich at antique events and other events to learn European archeology, which was at the forefront of the time, and Heinrich learned the names of prehistoric relics and where archeological sites are. That is. It is also said that the word "archeology" is based on "archeological theory" written by Heinrich. Participants of the antique association also include Danjuro Ichikawa, the ninth generation, and Heinrich introduced the charm of Kabuki to West.

Heinrich married Iwamoto Hana, the daughter of a merchant house in Nihonbashi in 1872. Hana was 22 years old and Heinrich was 21 years old. Hana is also known as a master of performing arts, and it is said that Nagauta, koto, shamisen, and dance were also the skill of licensing.

In 1873 (Meiji 6), a boy was born between the two, but I picked up the daughter of Siebold who opened a maternity hospital, Heinrich's sister, Ina Kusumoto (the first Japanese woman) Obstetrics). " Rice is said to have opened a maternity hospital in Tsukiji with the support of the Siebold brothers, but the location is still unknown. Mr. Sekiguchi said, "There may be letters in some house that can identify the location of Mr. Rice's maternity hospital, so please let us know at that time." Even now, research on Siebold seems to continue.

What kind of person is Philip Franz von Siebold?

What kind of people have been to Philip Franz von Siebold? Book Forest Chuo Siebold's 200th Anniversary Lecture "Siebolt Father and Son Density Talked by descendants"

Philip Franz von Siebold (1796-1866) was born in the local city of Würzburg, Germany. The Siebold family is a prestigious aristocracy in the medical world that produces a large number of talented individuals.

Siebold, who entered the University of Wurzburg in 1815, lives in the residence of Professor Delinger, who has a deep knowledge of natural history, and learns all disciplines through intellectual exchanges with scholars from various fields gathered at the professor's home.

After graduating from university in 1820, Siebold closed the clinic that opened in less than two years. An old friend of my uncle sent a Dutch East Indian Army Major Surgery to Batavia (now Jakarta).

Upon arriving in Batavia in 1823, Siebold was highly praised for his doctor's skills and his deep knowledge of natural science, and caught the eye of Caperen, the governor of the Dutch East Indian Government. And the arrow of Shirabane stood as a successor to the doctor with Nagasaki Dejima Shokan, who was about to be replaced. Seabolt finally arrived at Nagasaki, a 45-day sea voyage from the port of Batavia. This trembling impression is spoken lively in his book "Nippon".

"As the town of Nagasaki approaches, the bay is finally lively. You can see various scenery on the left and right of the boat. The wind had no clouds in the sky, and thanks to it, I was able to see the beautiful glowing wind. The marvelous shores of pleasant houses welcome the party. What a rich hill or a sublime forest of shrines? The peak of a lively green mountain, which is truly beautiful as a picture."

Later, in 1829, the so-called "Siebolt Case" started, and Siebold complained of innocent and applied for naturalization in Japan with his wife and children, but was banned from deportation and re-entry, and went to Europe. After returning to Japan, he continued to study Japanese and wrote a number of books on Japan, including "Nippon", "Nippon Zoology", and "Nippon Botanical Magazine". In 1859, when he turned 63, he returned to Japan as a diplomatic adviser to the Shogunate, and reunited with his beloved wife and children.
