Japanese National Railways Railroad Crossing Warning

For 56 years from Showa 6 (1931) to Showa 62 (1987), railroad crossing warning of freight drop-in lines from Shiodome Station of the Japanese National Railways to Tokyo market liquid, where the former Tokyo Central Wholesale Market Tsukiji Market was located. What was used as

At its peak, 150 freight cars per day passed, but with the abolition of Shiodome Station, the service line was also removed.

Reason for preservation

Formerly under this expressway, the Shiodome River flowed and an iron bridge was also built.

Shiodome Station was Shimbashi Station, the first train station at the time of the opening of the railway in Japan, but when Tokyo Station became the central station in 1914, this became a freight station.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake, when the Tokyo City Central Wholesale Market was completed in Tsukiji, there was a track for transporting luggage between Shiodome Station and the market, which played a major role.

This traffic light, which has supported the kitchen of the living of Tokyo residents, will not be abandoned due to the abolition of the Japanese National Railways, but the Tokyo Metropolitan Wholesale Market Tsukiji Market, the Tokyo Daiichi Kensetsu Office, the Chuo-ku Board of Education, and the local community Thanks to the great cooperation of the people, it will be permanently preserved here.

We have returned to the starting point of this series.

This is a pedestrian bridge on the Shiodome archeological site, which was introduced in the first series on January 28, last year.

At the first time, I just introduced the Shiodome archeological site, and said that the sidewalk Hashigami was finally introduced.

Don't mention the official name "Showa-dori Ginza Pedestrian Bridge".

That's why this time it's Hashigami on the sidewalk of "Showa-dori Ginza Pedestrian Bridge".

The road ahead is Chuo Market Street, the left and right are Showa-dori, and the back is Hanatsubaki Street.

This complex shape sidewalk Hashigami has been filmed in numerous TV dramas and movies.

"Tokimeki" means emotions that touch one heart, and on the other, it prospers in time. Haruhiko Kindaichi (Japanese Literature)

The origin of "Ginza Tokimeki Bridge"

In the early Edo period, the Tokugawa Shogunate ordered Izumo 240,000 stones Yoshiharu Horio to build land around this area, and the area around Ginza 8-chome was later called "Izumo-cho".

In 1993, the road connecting Ginza 7.8-chome was renovated and "Hanatsubaki-dori" was born.

The commemorative song "Tokimeite Ginza" was recorded and sung.

The commemorative Izumo camellia was donated by Izumo City and is still entertaining our eyes.

This bridge, which was completed as Showa-dori Ginza pedestrian bridge in 1997, is nicknamed "Ginza Tokimeki Bridge" in connection with the land connected to the Shimbashi and Hanayanagi world in the Edo and Meiji eras, and a commemorative monument will be erected here with the participation of neighbors.

"Horai Bridge" was a bridge close to this and spanned the Shiodome River.

The bridge itself is not present, but it remains as the name of the intersection.

Previously, Horaisha (* 2) of Shojiro Goto (Goto Shojiro Goto * 1) provided construction funds to Ishibashi that was rebuilt from Kibashi at that time. It seems to have been named.

※1 Shojiro Goto [1838 (Tenpo 9)-1897 (Meiji 30)]

Politicians, Counts and businessmen from Tosa clansman in the late Edo and early Meiji eras. It's an indispensable character in the drama of Sakamoto Ryoma.

He compiled the Tosa clan in the White Paper on the Reign of the Great Government and took a key position in the Meiji government, but lost in the theory of conquering Korea.

After that, he revived and served as the Communications Minister and the Agriculture and Commerce Minister.

※2 Horai Company

A company established in 1873 (Meiji 6) mainly by Shojiro Goto during the Shimotsuke period. It was in the current Ginza 8-chome.

In addition to finance and exchange rates, the company also engaged in coal mines, mining, papermaking, and sugar manufacturing. However, it immediately fell into poor management and went bankrupt in 1876 (Meiji 9).

Both front and top are pedestrian bridges.

It's shaped like a word "mouth".

The left and right are Showa-dori, and the front is Kaigan-dori.

Ginza 8-chome is only one corner of the image shooting point, and the rest is Minato-ku.

The back of the image is the building district of Shiodome, Minato-ku, mainly the building of Nippon Television Network.
