Shigemasa Kitao was born in Kodemmacho. His father ran a book shop, Shoshi.

Shigemasa Kitao drew an illustration of a prostitute reputation book "Hitome Senbon", which was first published by Tsutashige in 1774.

In the era of Okitsugu Roujutanuma, the so-called "Tanuma era", it seems that there were many natural disasters and famines from the beginning. However, among the common people, there were times when they showed the richness of life.

One of them is "Soka: Sashibana", which is close to a single vase.

Tsutashige did not overlook the fashion of this flower arrangement. I left an illustration depicting a single flower in "Ichimoku Senbon" to Shigemasa Kitao, a charismatic painter at the time.

Shigemasa Kitao drew actor paintings, beauty paintings, customs paintings, and ukiyo-e paintings in various fields.

His masterpiece Nishiki-e book, "Seiro Bijin Meet Sgatami," is a competition with Harusaku Kachigawa. （※）

"Shigemasa Kitao" is a popular artist who has been supported since the early days of business.

Born as the son of a bookstore, grew up in an environment surrounded by books, and flourished his talent as an artist.

There are many gatekeepers, and it is said that Utamaro Kitagawa (Shota Someya) was raised like a disciple.

While gaining popularity as a painter for "beautiful paintings" and "actor paintings", he continued his work in print illustrations until his later years, and became involved in many Tsutashige publications.

The first job with Tsutashige (Mr. Meteor Yokohama) is "Ichimoku Senbon".

It was an introduction book of prostitute Yoshiwara, which can be said to be the status of the so-called "first-class player" that is difficult to obtain.

A few months after Tsutashige published "Ichimoku Senbon", in the same year of Ansei 4 (1775), the largest Lival scale shop Sonbei (Urokogata Yamagobee) at this time, "Singataya" Will commit a serious impersonation (the copyright violation that is now referred to).

As a result, the scale shop was unable to publish "Yoshiwara Hosomi".

Tsutashige took advantage of this to publish Hosomi Yoshiwara's "Flower of Magaki * 2)". （※３）
